I'm not that familiar with Rapp, but I'm very excited for Yeoh and Jones.

Soooo, it's Starship Shenzhou? I thought it was going to be Starship Discovery, thus the reason for the title.

Wow, how about you wait until the show actually airs and then we can all find out together? I doubt the show is named Star Trek: Discovery for no reason.

How about "Does Star Trek Discovery have its first three scripts?"

How about "Does Star Trek Discovery have its first three scripts?"

IIRC, it was reported months ago that original showrunner Bryan Fuller had written the first two episodes and mapped out the general story plan for the rest of the first season, so unless they just quit writing immediately after that and went on a months-long vacation I imagine they've got quite a few more than three. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they'd written the entire season by now.

I know they also started set construction and makeup designs and tests quite a while ago, too. It doesn't sound as though they have most of the core cast, though (let alone guest stars and such for individual episodes), so they can't have started shooting yet. But I think it'll happen soon.

I said over a year ago, how about not releasing any info until you have a few episodes filmed. Then provide a proper teaser. I don't get the drip drip of information. Promotion nowadays is like running for political office, it's a 24/7, 365 days a year endeavor.

The first episode will air on the CBS network. So you can try it out before deciding. smile

None beyond the work he'd already put in, of course. He wrote scripts and laid much of the other groundwork for the show before he left, but he hasn't been actively working on it for a few weeks, it turns out, and won't be able to return for at least the first season. It is unfortunate, yes.

There is something more to this story. Fuller has talked and dreamed about a new Star Trek show for some years, and then he pulls out in the first year production? It does not make sense, something was not working out for him at CBS, he could have pulled back from his other shows.

It doesn't bode well for the future.

As I understand it, he actually can't pull back from his other shows; he's contracted and committed. He even seems hopeful / optimistic about returning to Trek for future seasons.

@Joe E

I guess we will see what happens, but this is very disappointing.
Fuller knows Star Trek better than anyone else in the business right now, so him leaving is pretty terrible.

Oh, it's certainly not good news, that's for sure (at least, not for Star Trek, anyway - it might be great for his other shows, though). But it's possible that it won't be catastrophic - after all, he did still work extensively on this show for a while, and presumably set the course for the whole, er, enterprise. I think the show will still show his influence.
