TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 29

OBI-WAN KENOBI---a news source said about Obi-Wan Kenobi in future movies, “I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the Saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan thing happen beyond Episode IX.
I think that they’ll probably be some reference to Obi-Wan in the Saga films, and his connection to whatever characters he happens to have a connection with. I’ve already written that I think that Rey has some kind of connection to him – family connection. So if that’s the case, maybe we see a part of that play out in the future Obi-Wan movie. Ewan McGregor would be the perfect age to reprise that [character].”

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---a new trailer may show Grand Moff Tarkin, originally played by Peter Cushing, watching construction of the Dark Star. The appearance is at five seconds, elapsed time.
Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy said there will not be a ROGUE TWO sequel.
Also, new ROGUE ONE photos were released.

THE ROCKETEERS---Walt Disney Pictures sequel to its 1991 THE ROCKETEER is underway. The plot reportedly is set six years after the original movie and involves a black female pilot replacing Cliff Secord. The original movie starred Bill Campbell, Jennifer Connelly and Timothy Dalton.

THE WALKING DEAD---co-star Tom Payne thinks Chandler Riggs is returning to the series after his father posted a comment that implied Chandler won't be returning, “I think Carl is the future of the show. I mean, is the future of the comic books, I think.”
He added, “At the end of the day, I think Carl is the guy at the end on the last page. And I don’t know if they’ll go that way on the TV show, but I think it would be a logical place for them to go. Who knows?”
Also, entertainment writer Try L. smith wrote an open letter criticizing the series:

“I forgave you when you killed Abraham and Glenn at the start of this season. It was a telegraphed move that was a bit overblown, but none the less necessary. It’s everything you’ve done since then that’s left me feeling like a walker trapped in the mud.”
He continued, “And what’s up with the plot direction. Your story hasn’t moved all that much since the start of this season. Your most recent episode was entirely focused on Tara…Tara!? What kind of show dedicates an entire episode to a supporting character?
Still, rest assured I haven’t given up hope. I believe in the Ricktatorship and all that it’s capable of. So for the love of walkers everywhere, stop the madness and give the fans what they want before there are less than 10 million of us to even care anymore.”

CHAOS WALKING---Tom Holland (SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING) is in negotiations to co-star with Daisy Ridley in this movie based on the novel trilogy about a boy who meets a girl after a virus supposedly killed all females. Doug Liman (EDGE OF TOMORROW) is the director.

THE SECRET LIFE OF HOUDINI---Dan Trachtenberg (10 CLOVERFIELD LANE) will direct the biomovie based on the book THE SECRET LIFE OF HOUDINI: THE MAKING OF AMERICA'S FIRST SUPERHERO.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES---Marion Cotillard commented on her often-criticized Talia al Ghul death scene, "Sometimes there are failures, and when you see this on screen, you're thinking: 'Why? Why did they keep that take?' But either you blame everyone or nobody. But I thought people overreacted, because it was tough to be identified just with this scene. When I'm doing the best I can to find the authenticity in every character that I'm playing, it's tough to be known just for this scene."

JURASSIC WORLD 2---producer Frank Marshall hinted BD Wong will return as Dr. Henry Wu in the sequel, “When they take off in helicopters, you know they’re probably going to come back.”

THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE 8TH DIMENSION---director Kevin Smith left the tv series based on the 1984 cult classic movie after MGM sued its director, WD Richter, and its writer, Earl Mac Rauch, over film rights. Smith posted:

“This is not what I signed up for. I was caught off-guard [by the lawsuit]. I literally had no idea. It blows, man, because that’s the closest I’ve [come] to having my own show so far… This lawsuit comes from MGM legal — it doesn’t come from any of the people I met at MGM… I’m no longer involved. I don’t wish anybody harm; I wish all parties well. I hope these dudes come to an agreement, and if they do and they still want me involved down the road, I’ll be here. But why would they?”

SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS---Amazon ordered a live-action remake of the Saturday morning tv series and BUG DIARIES, an animated series based on the children's books.

THE PACT---comedy movie underway about the parents of three girls and their pact to lose their virginity on prom night. Leslie Mann and John Cena star.

KAY SCARPETTA---Phyliss Nagy (CAROL) will write the script for the movie based on the Kay Scarpetta coroner novels.

Like that makes any sense. Can't even look forward to a Horner sequel score. frown

That's obviously the only bit they felt the need to mention.

So in 1944 we have a prominent black female pilot/super hero. Yet Marvel/Disney won't do a Black Widow stand alone movie, which the fans have been asking for. roll eyes

That's cool and everything, and I'm all for McGregor returning to the role, but it would need to be a film that takes place BEFORE the original trilogy (like some of those spin-off thingies). It doesn't make sense to have McGregor, then Guiness, then back to McGregor -- aged or not.

I kinda agree with him. For as much as I love both WESTWORLD and THE WALKING DEAD, they do seem to be stuck in the status quo for many episodes now, without really coming together. Let's get some action flowing!

Any think that has to do with Star Wars since (77) its littered with new S.W. franchises all the time its absolutely horrible they get weaker its lousy film making there's only one Star Wars 1977.

I agree, I hope they make a standalone movie that takes place sometime before Episode IV. After all, I find it hard to believe that Kenobi just sat in a hut for 18 years waiting for Luke to grow up. He must have had an adventure or two....

As far as Ewan McGregor appearing in later films, I wouldn't be surprised if he appeared as a Force Ghost in Episode VIII or IX, especially if it turns out Kenobi has some familial connection to Rey. And while you're right that it might not make sense, chronologically speaking, to go from McGregor to Guiness to McGregor, how else could they do it? Reanimate McGuiness with CGI? Obi-wan is McGregor's role now, and I'm fine with that. He was the best part of the prequel trilogy.

Reanimate McGuiness with CGI?

That's GUINESS, not McGuiness. wink

It's not that farfetched. If he's a force ghost, he doesn't have to be entirely lifelike. And they could do a lot with darkness and angles. Just look at the CGI "young Anthony Hopkins" in WESTWORLD or even some of the young Arnie scenes in TERMINATOR GENISYS. It's entirely feasible to superimpose his face in motion capture or some such thing.

But yeah -- long shot, I know. But at least it's better with McGregor than some totally new actor.

I thought Ewan was great as Obi-Wan. My only issue is Kenobi probably didn't do much on Tatooine other than sulk. So, I'm guessing he didn't partake in a whole lot of adventures between Episodes III & IV.

I think he could ONLY come back as a force ghost, or have a brief cameo in a prequel similar to Rogue One. Maybe some adventures between episodes I & 2. The Clone Wars are pretty much covered. Who knows...

He was absolutely great as Kenobi; my issue is only with the break in continuity (I'm a sucker for those things), not with McGregor.
