Hi everyone, someone asked a while back what was the correct pronunciation of Varese Sarabande and it got me to thinking.

Just how is INTRADA pronounced? Is it INTRAR-DA or INTRAD-ER??

See being Australian, we pronounce things differently to Americans sometimes, hence the reason why there's a little confusion on occasion (ie. You pronounce the word 'Laugh' like Laff, whereas as we say it like Larf. Strange I know but that's just one example).

More importantly, I find it's a very unique name and quite catching. Can anyone apart from Doug or Roger, give us all a quick history on the company's name (ie. why they chose it etc)? If this has been asked before I apologise but any insight would be greatly appreciated by you statesiders from those of us downunder!

IN TRAW DAW, but all together fast.

I like to call Madonna the singer, MADONNER, the way some Brits might, as they would say VAGINER for Vagina. It's just funner the British way, me thinks.

So I guess our British buddies might call it INTRAWDER.

I say IN-TRA-DA, with the emphasis on the TRA.

No W. No additional R.

I could be wrong though.

I'm a Chicagoean, but I don't talk like Elwood Blues. In fact I don't know anybody that actually does.

It's a music term meaning an introduction or prelude.
Google it.

An 'Intrada' is an introductory piece or passage in a musical work. Like the Italian 'Intrata' or 'Intrare', not quite an overture. A sort of entrance.

It wasn't conjured up from thin air. Company names do tend to mean something.

P.S. 'Sorry, Basil W beat me to it, I see.

Just how is INTRADA pronounced?

The opposite of EXTRADA

Is it INTRAR-DA or INTRAD-ER??

Both if you live in Boston where they add "R" to vowel endings, and remove "R" to create vowel endings. Maybe that makes Boston "the New Downunda."

I was down the pub tonight, and I had the 15-CD box set of Star Trek with me (for some reason), and a man said, "Wow I love Star Trek, holy cow, are those the songs?" and I said yes, and he asked what the record label was, maybe Motown? And I said no, and he took the box off me and said "LAY-LA LAND? Laughing out loud here man!", but it got me thinking -

What is the correct pronunciation of La-La Land?
