Glad to see his Frankenstein score (might be?) on there, but given the theme of the concert, I'm kinda surprised there's no mention of his gorgeous score to Far from the Madding Crowd being included. Wish I could go, either way.

Strange. Are those Tykwer/Kliemek pieces tacked on to the end of the Craig A concert?

Both Frankenstein and Far From Madding Crowd should be on the programme...
Very cool. Concertgoers are in for a treat with this one.

Not quite Lok. There's my review
First off, let me deal with the negatives.
Although the Palac Zofin was a lovely venue, the cramped stage, on which the players appeared to be squished so tightly and the low ceiling above the stage did not provide optimal acoustics for the performance. A real shame as the rest of the hall was both high ceilinged and spacious. Prometheus Ascending really suffered in this regard. Don't get me wrong, it was a joy to be heard and it was excellently performed. It just lacked the power and anger heard in the original performance and mix.
Also, after the grand opening of O Verona and Balcony Scene (from R+J), the concert fell dead with 5 TRACKS from PERFUME (Tykwer/Klimek/Heil). Who's idea was it to programme these tracks into a CRAIG ARMSTRONG concert?!!!
Apart from feeling like they went on for days, they were also out of sync with the rest of the concert music.
It's not like there wasn't other Armstrong stuff that could have filled the void. RAY, HULK, QUIET AMERICAN, BONE COLLECTOR, PLUNKETT & MACLEANE or ORPHANS would all have been most welcome (just to name some).
Next came LOVE ACTUALLY, but this was weird in that although it said Glasgow Love Theme, then Portuguese Love Theme, what we got was about a minute of Glasgow before it segued into Portuguese, then the full Portuguese followed??!! Strange.
Anyway, after that things only improved.
Cello Theme from WTC was serene and emotive.
The first half concluded with more music from Tykwer and Co, but the March from CLOUD ATLAS was more in keeping with the mood of the concert (and was also much more interesting than Perfume).
Part 2 was glorious.
Opening (the Vaughan Williams styled piece) and Love Theme from FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD was exquisite.
Horseback Address and The Storm from ELIZABETH TGA was also grand (although I was sad not to hear the Love Theme).
Moscow Variation from SNOWDEN was a revelation and a nice change of pace too.
Four songs from MOULIN ROUGE knocked things out of the park (my missus loved this bit especially..she likes words and singing)
Nature Boy. One Day I'll Fly Away. Fool To Believe. Death Scene (not a song, but tragic nonetheless. It's within these songs you hear the magic Armstrong brings to this stuff. Sublime.
Next was Flashback from GREAT GATSBY (I think it's called Sayre Hotel on the soundtrack and I missed the Lana Del Rey vocals but sang them in my head).
Finally came the VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN piece (see above).
Mr A came down to the front of the stage and said a few words (not many), took some plaudits, gave thanks and sodded off back to sitting behind us while we got two encores.
Buchanan Mansion and Daisy from GG (utterly brilliant) and the song Come What May from MOULIN ROUGE (also lovely although I will always prefer McGregor & Kidman singing The girl here was too operatic.
So, great night with some minor reservations. Not bad for a Jock 
Shalom.

In between recording BEN-HUR choir, TV Series for Mychael Danna,a film score by Enis Rothoff.... we (the CoPPO and I) have been rehearsing with Joe Hisaishi for his concert on Sunday night .... great to see we can turn out 3 different orchestras over 3 nights of film music in one city.....

"A Story of Love" Craig Armstrong in concert
April,21. Zofin Palace,Prague
Performed by the Praga Sinfonietta and the Vox Pragae choir.
Conducted by Miriam Nêmcová
Opening a concert about love stories in a splendor-clad auditorium with "Romeo and Juliet" immediately set the tone.
Before it would become to sweetly, romantic the music of "Perfume, story of a murderer" got the audience back in awe with a great performance on the vocal tracks by soprano Christina Johnston.
This made the impact of the famous Glasgow theme from "Love,Actually" even bigger.
Although the orchestra missed out on the nuances in the brass and bass sections sometimes later in the first half it didn't effect the overall performance.
The second half started off strongly with pieces from "Elizabeth,the Golden age" and "Far from the madding crowd", the latter one of the more recent acclaimed Armstrong scores.
Building to the end songs from "Moulin Rouge" where there to break the hearts of those who loved
that movie.
Hats ?? off for Nikola Bojcev who programmed a daring, off the beaten track concert with music that deserves to be heard more in concert venues.
In short: a nicely performed, not-to-be-missed musical story that was a great appetizer for the days to come.
