Me: So, Varese thinks they're going to generate business with a fake Black Friday sale?? I guess their thinking is that people will add items to their carts, enter the code, see it doesn't work, but buy anyway? Doesn't seem like a good strategy to me. Pass.

I just tried to checkout using my tablet... in case the issue was with my computer (browser, whatever) and I STILL get an error message that says "The code did not match any active gift card or discount".

FAKE sale. People who say the code "worked" for them? I don't know. Varese employees perpetuating the charade? Maybe I'll just place the order, include a note asking for the discount, and do a chargeback (dispute for the amount of the discount) with my credit card issuer if I don't get it? I don't know why Varese has to make this so difficult. Do they want my money or not??

BTW, the last time they had a sale via a discount code... it did work for me. The problem is NOT on my side. Varese, PLEASE fix this. Is drivingmissdaisy paying attention to this thread any longer?

email sent to Varese. Don't know if they're going to respond, though. Maybe Monday? Hopefully the Little Box of Horrors doesn't sell out (I know it's not included in the sale, but I want to buy other items and place ONE order to save on shipping).


I am glad you solved the problem. I agree with you that anytime a company sets up a web sale they should test the excluded items to be sure that the discount applies to all other items. Maybe also refrain from calling others on this board liars because you think we are aiding a fraud or something.

If something doesn't work, take a step back, start over, erase cookies...do things that people do when a website seems to be unresponsive before leveling absurd charges at companies and people.

Sometimes I shake my head at the over the top things said here sometimes.

I'm absolutely speechless. Also, The Blue Lagoon isn't one of our titles. You do know Varese ONLY sells their own product on their website, so seeing THE BLUE LAGOON should have been the first clue, since why would a VARESE promo code work on a NON VARESE CD? Glad it worked out.

Edit: Okay I will make a small defense. I've ordered exclusively form Movie Music for over ten years. So I just don't normally go to the other labels web sites. Why I confused Varese/DMD with SAE I have no excuse.

Here is my screenshot. As you can see, I'm at the right merchant website. The error message which says "this code did not match any active gift card or discount" (in red) is visible. Although, after removing the horror box, the discount is applied (no screenshot of that).



I would still prefer to not have to place 2 orders however. Although it looks like that's what I'm going to have to do. So... can I get them shipped together and get a refund on the extra shipping paid? Seems like a reasonable request to me. I don't see anywhere on the Varese site that if the horror box is in your cart the discount code won't work, btw. Might be helpful to add so others don't run into this problem?

The code is SAVE15, not SALE15.

And you don't have to order the box seperately, you can just combine it with another order later -- there's no need to jump on it so quickly you have to pay more in shipping.

W-dervish, please email us with both order numbers and we'll combine them no worries. And yes like stated above several times this code does not work for Little Box Of Horrors. orders@ varesesarabande.com use this email. Please remove the SPACE after the @ sign before sending email.

I cut and pasted what DMD wrote (3rd comment in this thread) into the word document where I save my orders. And DMD himself said it wouldn't work if the horror box was in your cart. BTW, I did go back and check, and now it says "SAVE15" instead of what I cut and pasted. I didn't type it out, I CUT AND PASTED it. He must have changed it? I don't know how a cut and paste can be wrong. In any case, the discount is now showing up even with the horror box in my cart.

I don't order as frequently as others seem to. My last order was 5 months ago. It might sell out before I'm ready to order again.
