OK, it's later. First off, anyone who is a fan of this movie or its score really owes it to themselves to pick up this Blu-ray. This is the best the movie has ever looked on home video or TV broadcast. The isolated score track really should be called isolated score and sound effects track, as some cues have sound effects mixed in (there's also passages of just the sound effects), but most cues do not and sound quite good, though the stereo isn't very wide (if indeed it's true stereo) but the fidelity for the most part is very good. Having said all that, I'm disappointed with the picture transfer. Not because of the bleached color look, which is fine with me, but because the image has that soft, duped look. A short featurette states that the couldn't use the original camera negatives because they're now too faded, so they had to work from black and white separation masters. The image isn't as sharp and clear as I'd hoped, but still it looks better than it ever has before. The featurette gives you side-by-side, before and after comparisions. I'm about to now listen to the commentary track.

Many thanks RoryR. Adding this to the post of TacktheCobbler, we can say there is a track without dialogue, but nobody can assure that it is the original legit M-E track, as Matessino used sparse materials to assemble a "listening experience from spare parts".The "music only" sections can be a copy-and-paste from the Lp and CD. Would Mike Matessino offer us an in-dept report on what really has been done for this track? As for the aspect-ratio, at the moment I have the old MGM dvd release at 1,33 plus the recently released in Italy at 1,66, and this last is framed within the old 1,33, so there is a loss of the image at top and bottom!

No, it's 1.66:1 with no image loss that I can tell, unless I'm unware of something.
