I miss the days when Buysoundtrax would surprise us with such treats as John Beal's TERROR IN THE AISLES, Jerrold Immel's MEGAFORCE, Morton Stevens' ONE MAN JURY, John Cacavas' THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, Harry Robertson's HAWK THE SLAYER, the expanded LIFEFORCE, the exquisitely remastered SWORD AND THE SORCERER by David Whitaker, Poledouris' A WHALE FOR THE KILLING, Mike Vickers' DRACULA A.D. 1972, James Bernard's THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES (which I'm spinning right now), and yes, even LASERBLAST by Richard Band and Joel Goldsmith.

Personally, I'm not in the market for downloads or synth re-recordings or solo piano interpretations or any such incarnation. I want the real B-movie deal on CD.

So what's up, BSX? Am I barking up a petrified tree? Is the CD market too dried up to continue down the road less traveled?

You're not the only one. I love "Megaforce", Poledouris' Whale gives us a completely different sound from the mainstream output (just like CHiPs and Silvestri), and Hawk is fun on its own.

I don't care for downloads, I want to have a medium that gives me access to my music without having to drag computers, laptops or other IT-platforms around and enables me to play my music when my computer has crashed or a new OS is introduced. Same goes for DVDs.

They've been releasing some really good stuff through Dragon's Domain.

I was super excited to get Sound of Thunder from them and you can always order their titles from Intrada or Screen Archives if you prefer.

I do order from SAE & LA LA no one else, I don't like BSX shipping methods slow, Iffy tracking details unresponsive too phone & emails, I don't want to be buying the same soundtracks when I have the originals already. Assault on a Queen looks good maybe are pick that one up next month. other than that I don't like what there releasing & other labels rather lazy lately.

Yea, BSX really championed obscure 80's sci-if, fantasy, and horror.

I'll Always be grateful for titles like Yor: The Hunter From the Future, Megaforce, Hawk the Slayer, Sword and the Sorcerer, and many more. I hope we'll see more obscure 80's titles like these in the future.

It also looks like they've given up on any more
Morton Stevens releases, which is a real shame.

I was really hoping Ford and Mark would have
done more with Mort's work, since ONE MAN JURY
and HARDLY WORKING are two gems in every way.

What say you, Ford?:-)

Thanks for playing, Ford. We have some lovely parting gifts for you.

Seriously, though, as I mentioned in the original post:

"Personally, I'm not in the market for downloads or synth re-recordings or solo piano interpretations or any such incarnation. I want the real B-movie deal on CD."

I miss the old BSX that released cult classic B-movie scores out of left field for the first time on CD, like the titles mentioned above. Forget about reissues, re-recordings, downloads, etc. Get back to your roots, man! That was your niche.

Leagolfer, you really should give moviemusic.com a try. Peter Kelly is absolutely superb at both customer service and quickness with shipping. He sent me a box of 10 discs that came to me (from Roswell, NM to Toronto, Canada) within three days. And that's NOT an anomaly. And his shipping rates are as good if not slightly better than the rest. Unless it's an order direct from the label or in the unlikely case that Peter can't get it, all my orders are through moviemusic.com. The only thing I would mention is that it sometimes takes Peter a few more days to add titles but I find sending him an e-mail via the website gets him to add them within a day.

If you read anything I post on here, you'll know I'm extreeeeeemely picky about customer service and about the condition in which my orders arrive. (And no, Peter did not pay me to endorse him.) smile

You need to use their website contact form rather than sending a direct e-mail to them. They've mostly sorted that out but just to be safe, I'd use the onsite form. Peter's great and he now has a fair amount of used CDs at a much fairer price than one of the other sites that shall remain nameless.
