Yes it wasn't all a bad nightmare. It actually did exist.

And it had a soundtrack.

I think this youtube video might be a tad better than the movie itself.

Music editor on the film was none other than Kenneth Hall. Rest in Peace Ken and Jerry.

Yes, no score or composer listed. Just songs.

I think it was always Cosby's dream to appear in a movie with "Jugs" in the title.

It may have been his dream to have an ambulance, a good supply of drugs, and everyone thinking he's a medic. The concept could be called Cosby's wet dream.

But really odd that this is a movie without any underscore...or is it not?

I would say it's not, especially given the style of the movie. I saw it when it originally came out. Not every movie needs an underscore, and I think many that do have underscores wiould be better without them or at least a lot less underscore.

Wasn't Peter Yates somewhat of a respected director back then?

This is the very first thing I ever saw on HBO back in the days. All I remember are the pokies.

Wasn't Peter Yates somewhat of a respected director back then?

Nine years before MOTHER, JUGS & SPEED, Englander Peter Yates had made his directorial debut with the well-regraded British thriller ROBBERY, then hit pay dirt with his second film BULLITT. His seven pre-JUGs features also included the commercial hit THE HOT ROCK (1972) with Robert Redford, and the critically-acclaimed THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE with Robert Mitchum. According to a Los Angeles Herald Examiner article issued shortly before filming began on MOTHER, JUGS & SPEED, Yates planned to stage wilder chase scenes in Los Angeles for that film than those he had staged in San Francisco for BULLITT.

I liked the album and consider the Dave Grusin involved track "Thunder Thumbs & Lightnin' Licks" a score track. The Brothers Johnson lp "Look Out for Number 1" came out concurrently with the A&M soundtrack.

I want it on Cd...do you HEAR ME Varese? wink

THE DEEP, BREAKING AWAY, KRULL and one of my favorite films THE DRESSER were also directed by Yates. Wow, I did not connect him with THE DRESSER at all. That movie is awesome. I guess we can thank him for Jackie Bisset's wonderful nipples in THE DEEP. She may have auditioned for JUGS even. BREAKING AWAY was also a major hit I remember.
