"With regret, we must announce that—after 27 wonderful years—we are no longer able to publish new print editions of Video Watchdog. The coming months will be difficult as we try to figure out what's next for us, and what awaits Video Watchdog and its readership. Please bear with us during this uncertain time, and we will keep you informed of further developments as they become more definitive."
I've been a subscriber for about 15 years. A shame to see it go. Just one more in the long line of defunct film publications: American Film, Premiere, Films In Review, Film Comment, Fantastic Films, Films & Filming, Scarlet Street, Take One, etc. Perhaps they will end up doing an electronic version like Film Score Monthly.
Its the digital age no interest anymore for magazines people get there information browsing these days. Yes it was a shame it could be interesting, That's life these day's bigger franchises have fallen lately.
Looks like any subscribers (like me) who still have issues coming on our subscriptions are likely to be left in the lurch. I just received in the mail a notice from the U.S. Court that Tim and Donna Lucas, the publishers of Video Watchdog, are declaring Chapter 7 bankruptcy in order to have their debts discharged.
That is a damn shame - VW was the FSM of genre film, in their attention to detail & relentless pursuit of the truth! Sad day for us lovers of minutiae - they introduced me to some of my favorite things, period.
