I am a huge fan of David Rose`s Bonanza scores and this is one of my favorites. It`s a beautiful gyspy influenced score with some fantastic violin solos. I only wish that one of the labels would release a Bonanza box set.

Can't see that happening I would also snap that up instantly, I'm not a big fan of westerns bonanza is the king, Sadly the FSM label went a few years back if any one would of released that I reckon they would of loved there releases. These other label's lately I'm not to impressed with them what there doing. The Harkit cd will have to do for now of Bonanza it gets played quite a bit very good show and music.

… and for those who like not only to David Rose, but the Cast also:

‘Bonanza Ponderosa Party Time’ (4 CDs…includes the great Pernell Roberts album solo [wonderful voice], 4 Lorne Greene solo albums, 1 Dan Blocker solo album and 2 Cast albums): https://www.bear-family.de/bonanza-bonanza-4-cd.html

‘Bonanza’ (1959-2007), includes 4 compositions of David Rose, remastered, much better than the Harkit Records version:

You would have to offer seasonal collections as Bonanza, unlike most series scored in the sixties/early seventies, featured a newly-recorded score for each episode. I would be hard-pressed to name my favorites, Rose's scores for "Elizabeth, My Love," "Ride the Wind," "The Burning Sky," "The Fence," "The Love Child," "The Hunter" immediately coming to mind. Certainly S14's "Forever" would have to be included in ANY "Best of Bonanza" CD release. But, gosh, Rose did so many wonderful scores for the series that it's hard to narrow it down to even a couple of dozen.

BONANZA is one out of only TWO western TV shows from the US that have had any kind of wide exposure in Norway (the other being GUNSMOKE) -- largely due to the morning airings on Norwegian TV2 from the early 90s onwards. And it's still in syndication on Norwegian TV, 25 years later.

So I've often noticed the scores while watching it -- hung over -- on Sunday mornings; my impression is that it's usually very traditional, coplandesque Americana, but always done with skill and flair by Rose, Harry Sukman and others. I'd certainly be interested in sampling such a release, should it ever be a reality.

Couldn`t agree more. In my opinion there should be several volumes. Bonanza is definetely in my Top 10 TV series score wishlist. David Rose was such a gifted composer. I also love his Little House on the Prairie scores. Not too crazy about his music for Highway to Heaven though.

And I definetely wouldn`t mind a soundtrack of Operation Petticoat with the music of Rose and Henry Mancini.
