Once again Gloria Cheng brought together the best of the best last Saturday to promote her CD and film. This time, to her chagrin the spotlight was put on her. As all said she is a master among these masters.

...and Jon Burlingame's coverage of the event:

Favorite moment: after Ben Proudfoot learned of John William's ritual of writing something every day (which inspired and depressed Randy Newman) he asked Williams what was the source of this inspiration? What get's your juices going when you get up in the morning? Answer: coffee.

Randy also had a funny comment about his passing dad and Uncles about, something like and they are laughing or smiling down below, as opposed to heaven which is above of course, I forget the context, but it chuckled me too smile

Do you know if the seance was filmed? I would have absolutely LOVED to hear this panel. I obviously intend to see the actual documentary at some point. I'm not a big fan of Williams' "Conversations" piece (hopefully, it will grow on me), but I'm impressed by how much buzz Cheng has been able to create around this -- concerts, panels, films, album Kickstarter campaigns etc. And with the no. 1 composer in the world participating in all of it.
