I don't think this upcoming capbox was dedicated a topic so far (didn't find any in the years 2016 & 2015). So here's a French presentation and the full track-listing:

http://www.muziq.fr/crimes-et-chuchotements-le-son-de-lalo-schifrin/

Needless to say that a whole lot of the music included therein is already available on CD. As far as I'm concerned, it's worth getting it only for the non soundtrack album ROCK REQUIEM (seems to be a great one) and for the Jules Verne concert. Let's hope the Quincy Jones box to be issued soon by Universal France as well will encompass more unreleased stuff.

Wait a minute, there's a Quincy Jones set coming too?

A great shame that most of it has been released before. Rock Requiem will certainly attract a few buyers though, although having bought the vinyl years ago I won't be one of them. I thought it was an awful album!

I will be interested in the Quincy Jones set, but if the Schifrin set is anything to go by it doesn't seem like there will be much we haven't heard before. Still, let's wait and see.

The My Life in Music compilation is as good an all-round representation of Lalo's work (both film/tv and other compositions) as we're likely to see, I think.

This Schifrin set is a very good representation of what made his sound so fascinating during the 60's. But it's aimed first at the public at large.

As for the Quincy Jones box, it's being 'cooked' for a while already and producer Stéphane Lerouge mentioned it briefly at the end of the following interview:

http://www.funku.fr/2015/stephane-lerouge-devoile-le-contenu-inedit-du-cinema-de-serge-gainsbourg/

I don't know yet which soundtracks will be included but understood that the box will be bigger than Schifrin's one: between 6 and 8 CD's I guess.

Looking at the link, I see the set includes - The Dissection And Reconstruction Of Music From The Past As Performed By The Inmates Of Lalo Schifrin's Demented Ensemble As A Tribute To The Memory Of The Marquis De Sade - long out of print & going for crazy money...cheapest $180 on Amazon.

Yes Rameau. This is a terrific album featuring great soloists including Schifrin himself on piano and harpsichord. One of my favourite records of his, where he combined baroque and jazz with outstanding skills. Lalo even rerecorded it on his own label Aleph but this box offers the original version of course.

This will be worth picking up at least for de Sade, Mannix, Whole Lalo Schifrin, and Rock Requiem. If those two Mission Impossible albums sound better than the original release (which sounds pretty bad), it will be worth it for that too.

I will be interested to hear from anyone who can compare this mastering of Mission Impossible to that of the MCA release of the 1980s.

Yes nice set but unfortunately nothing new...
Hopefully the Quincy Jones set will have some new surprises...

This is being released because Lalo Schifrin is giving a conference on La Cinematheque du Paris. I wish I could be there!

Considering the Verve/MGM titles on this set, I hope the Q set includes The Pawnbroker, Deadly Affair, Mirage, and The Slender Thread.

Simon Morris, it's of course all down to a matter of taste but I'm surprised that you describe ROCK REQUIEM as an 'awful album'. I have the track Agnus Dei on the CD MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE AND OTHER THRILLING THEMES and it's absolutely magnificent. I was never given the chance to listen to the full LP but just spotted two other cues on Youtube, Offertory verse and Final prayer and well, they sound great as well. I therefore look forward to discovering this record.

Sorry about that Laurent. I really didn't like it I'm afraid. And as you say, it's just a matter of taste and you're more than free to disagree.

Hhmmm ... an implication being that the "public at large" is itself largely unfamiliar with 1960s content.
Folks under age 40 need compilations such as these with which to acquaint themselves with vintage material...

I have it and it is long out of print. It deserves to be in the catalog.

"Mirage" was released early this year - sadly, only as HQ download.

Santa brought me this for Christmas.

How nice to have a digital version of the original "Mannix." I no longer need to suffer through the heavy-handed, Teutonic CD version.

Are the Lalo Schifrin and Quincy Jones sets going to be offered in the US by Amazon, SAE, etc.?

Pleasant surprise to me that the classic Jimmie Smith "The Cat" was composed by Lalo. This means Schifrin wrote music that Fred Astaire danced to, (on ABC-TV's "The Hollywood Palace.")
