For whatever reason I've never been much of a mark for Goldsmith, but this thread is really making the defiant side in me want an Omen box set wink

A Deluxe Edition of Kamen's Hudson Hawk or Goldsmith's Leviathan or The Haunting would be great to see.

back off, you're being rude...seriously, you can make your point without being a jerk about it. last I checked yavar was entitled to his opinion and you yours, try respecting that

Agreed.
Yavar is always polite in his posts, and it's often others who then take an aggressive stance if they disagree with his Goldsmith completist obsession.

Thanks for the support, Deputy and Mr. Thing.

Funny thing is, my Goldsmith obsession lately has been making me okay with not being a completist. That is, when I did my complete score breakdowns for Take Her, She's Mine and Do Not Fold, Spindle, or Mutliate, I realized that I really wasn't heartbroken that those two scores didn't exist any more. I mean, if somehow they turned up and got released, I'm probably enough of a Goldsmith nut to still buy them (maybe more for the liner notes than anything else) but I'm not going to pine away after every note of Goldsmith that's unreleased. I'm not going to hound James Fitzpatrick to record each and every lost Goldsmith score (just the excellent ones like Crawlspace or Face of A Fugitive.) I think I'm growing as a person! smile

As far as 90% of my posts being about Goldsmith, I don't actually think that's true. And if there were only more releases for other composers I love like Poledouris, Rozsa, and Bernstein (all of whom I also made "What ____ scores are left to release?" threads for) then I'd probably talk about them more. But Goldsmith was so prolific and since his scores also tend to sell better they just get released more often.

I stand by my statement that if Basic Instinct, Total Recall, Breakheart Pass, Poltergeist II, Rambo: First Blood Part II, or Magic can get acclaimed new complete issues even though the prior ones were near-complete (Magic only added a 25 second cue!) then the even-more-important Omen trilogy more than deserves it. His only Oscar people. Begs for a complete release.

Absolutely agree with you, Yawar. The newly reissued version of BASIC INSTINCT & TOTAL RECALL prove that despite being expanded and redone earlier the new version brought a fresh new restoration and a dynamic upgrade using today up to date remastering technology. I must add that TOTAL RECALL is my goto demo cd set. I'm sure we will get a revisit of the original OMEN trilogy at some point.

Not when kermits try to contradict u they don't. Same old soundtrack releases great, Some of your collections must be boring same releases on & on brainwashed.

Actually Yavar is 110% correct. We at least need a complete THE OMEN. It is, after all, the picture's 40th anniversary. And Jerry's Oscar!

Yavar - I also agree that you can NEVER EVER have too much Goldsmith! :-)

Well, one thing's for sure! It sure ain't gonna be The Haunting! I'd HATE to have that one! In fact, Varese, don't ever release that, you got me?

This is called reverse psychology, folks.

I would love to have an expanded edition of The Haunting. Even one on Leviathan and Small Soldiers too. By the way...when the heck is Swamp Thing coming out?
