I tried to search for this but found no information on the board. For those of you who are not aware, "Pray to the Lord" is a short piece John Barry wrote for church organ to commemorate the 90th birthday of Dr. Francis Jackson (perhaps Barry's most influential music teacher, along with Bill Russo). Has anyone heard this piece? It was recorded and released (along with its score) with the following book: http://www.banksmusicpublications.co.uk/product/fanfare-for-francis/44247/336/ I haven't been able to purchase this set, but I would appreciate it if any kind souls out there could shed some light as to what Barry's piece actually sounds like. It is not only his first and only piece for church organ (no, the few seconds in cues on scores like King Kong don't really count) but possibly the last piece of music he completed before his death. Anyone? Alex Yes, I have it. It's a very simple tune—by far the shortest and least busy of all the compositions on the set. It would probably sound quite nice arranged for orchestra but the organ rendition on the CD is not that thrilling to be honest. Frankly, I never play it. The book comes with the sheet music so someone of your talents could play it or arrange it for orchestra. Cheers

It's not a great recording, sounds as though the mic was some way from the organ. Yes, a much better recording might have felt more dynamic. As I look at the written score, it's not doing anything remarkably different to many other tunes we love, it just seems flat on the recorded disc. I have often fantasised that if I was funding an album of newly recorded John Barry tracks, as well as recreating the film version of the Deadfall love theme, I'd have commissioned instrumental, orchestral treatments of Pray To The Lord and also Our Time Is Now. Cheers
