ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---new trailer and poster were released.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC9abcLLQpI

Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy commented on the controversial reshoots, “I’m sure if you picked up the phone and called every single large, technical movie and said, ‘You ever gone in and done reshoots?’ they’d all say, ‘Oh God, yes.’ So why has it turned into a big story? Because it’s Star Wars, and they put a spotlight and scrutinize every single thing that gets done. But it was always planned and nothing unusual.”

OBI-WAN KENOBI---Ewan McGregor said he's receptive to returning as Obi-Wan Kenobi, “I’ve always thought there was a story to tell between my last one and Alec Guinness’ first one. It would be fun to film that story now I’m older. I’d be the right age. I’m forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them (laughs)! I hope that they’re going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!”

ALISTAIR MacLEAN---MacLean's novels will be developed into miniseries. The first will be SAN ANDREAS, set in World War II, in which a torpedoed hospital ship attempts to reach Scotland as a saboteur kills off its crew one by one. No other titles were released, but previous MacLean novels were made into movies including WHERE EAGLES DARE and THE GUNS OF NAVARONE.

JUSTICE LEAGUE---photo released of Amber Heard as Queen Mera.

LOGAN---photo released from the Wolverine sequel showing a mystery character wearing a "prom" tuxedo in El Paso. Speculation says the character is Arcade.

BLACK WIDOW---Scarlett Johansson commented on a solo Black widow movie, "Yeah, of course. I talked to them about it often. It would have to fit in the idea of where they want to go. I’m invested in that character. Marvel is greatly invested in that character. If I did it, I’d have to do it while I still actually wanted to wear a skin-tight catsuit. I don’t know how much longer that’s going to be."

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2---director James Gunn commented on the sequel's female roles, “I have done my best, as a male writer, with varying degrees of success, to bring female characters and female stories to the forefront. Whether they’re protagonists like Ana in Dawn of the Dead or Starla in Slither, comedy relief like Deadly Girl, Nightbird, and Power Chick in The Specials, or the insane, scene-stealing roles usually reserved for men, like Libby in SUPER. And I can’t wait for you all to see GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2, with Gamora, Nebula, and Mantis in action, where we not only pass the Bechdel test, but run over it and back up over it again and again in an eighteen-wheeler truck..."

LETHAL WEAPON---Fox ordered a full season of the series based on the movie franchise.

THE GOOD WIFE---Rose Leslie (GAME OF THRONES) has joined the cast of the spinoff series.

SUPERGIRL---Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) will be the Guardian.

PEOPLE MAGAZINE INVESTIGATES---new Investigation Discovery/PEOPLE MAGAZINE series underway with each episode investigating true crime stories. The first episode is about the rash of Long Island escort murders in 2010.

FIVE TO SURVIVE---new ABC/Ricky Gervais competition underway.

Lots of major productions do allot some time and budget for reshoots, but not 4 weeks worth, and usually outside hands aren't brought in to take charge or "oversee" the reshoots. If you go back and do some pickups or inserts, the second unit handles lots of those. Reshooting itself isn't unusual, but this is a month's work, that's a lot. It does point to the first cut having some issues, the rewrites and reshoots, change in composers - eh. Time will tell. As long as it turns out entertaining, so be it.

And McGregor has talked about this several times. Dammit, he was the best thing in the prequel trilogy, give this man his own series of films. Why make a Boba Fett movie ( if that is still in the works and not a rumor ) ? He's a costume, that's it. The galaxy's UPS guy razz

But McGregor back as Obi Wan? Hell yes.

Isn't principle photography on an average film around 3 months long? So they re-shot a 3rd of the film and that's planned and normal? eek

Oh, bullcrap. As the guy who runs the currently offline Rejected Film Scores site, I've read enough and been told enough stories to know a troubled production when I see one. It's not normal to reshoot a third or more of a film, lose the original director, and toss the original composer, in such a short window of time.

However, unlike most troubled films, in the end I don't think it will matter and Star Wars fans will plunk down to see it, so the obfuscation isn't necessary.
