Since there was a recent post about "Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man", do you think there's a possibility that they might come out with a complete set of all the scores for the Universal horror films (original soundtracks, re recordings, are MAYBE both?). It may take two sets!!!

I doubt it but I'd be happy to be proven wrong! Yavar

I've always found the 1993 CD from Silva Screen of BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN, re-recorded by the Westminster Philharmonic conducted by Kenneth Alwyn, to be quite nice. It also includes a suite from THE INVISIBLE RAY. I'm not sure if it's still available. Absolutely. 100%. I thought this album was amazing, and still do. I remember that when I first came to the web and forums I was horrified that there were those that moaned about less than great performances. It's wonderful! Good enough to not be replaced. I remember that before this, and never having touched a computer, but having experienced the label that is Silva Screen, I actually phoned them and told them what I'd love to see as soundtrack or rerecording. Top of the list was BoF. And the guy (Dave Wishart quite possibly) told me it was ON IT'S WAY!! After all this talk recently of Universal monsters music I stuck this and W&S wonderful House of Frankenstein cds on and have being experiencing bliss ever since!

I bought some Universal films that were on sale at Walmart for $8CAD each for a DVD. The Invisible Man The Mummy The Wolfman Creature From the Black Lagoon Only watched The Invisible Man, but thought it was really good and holds up very well, even the special effects. Some nice model work. Only the of-the-time comedy mugging by a few peasants and coppers i could have done without. But Claude Raines is excellent and the direction was pretty good, in general. I really like the HG Wells story, too. I thought this was a great adaption of it. But i'm looking forward to seeing the others. I don't think i've ever seen The Mummy or Creature. (Oops, meant to reply to a film rather than score thread on the other side of the board).
