Any fans of this album? I love it. A tad on the mid-rangey side, but no big deal. The fifth track on side one, "Mother Muffin," is the money cut.
"Mother Muffin" from the episode "The Mother Muffin Affair" composed by Dave Grusin, actually was used on the series and my favorite was "Groovin' Hard" composed by Randazzo for the album. .

I've got this on the CD that Varese Sarabande re-issued back in 2008. I like it, though perhaps not quite as much as the Montenegro UNCLE albums.
Bit puzzled about the reference to 'Groovin' Hard' as that's not on my CD. Was it on the original vinyl or something? The only Randazzo pieces that I can see on the CD are "Movin' On" and "The Countess"?
(The above YT clips don't, by the way, appear to be playable in the UK - or there is some other reason I can't access them...)

"Groovin' Hard" is not on my copy of the LP either. The YouTube clips are "Mother Muffin," straight off the LP. Maybe content is restricted to the U.S.?

I got this album as a clipped corner "freebie" many moons ago from Soundtrack Album Retailers because I placed a big order with them at the time. Got Morricone's "Big Gundown" the same way. Remember those days? A long time ago. Alas, I don't have it any more. Wish I kept it though, now that I've read this thread. Still have that Big Gundown album though.

Fan of the album? 60s U.N.C.L.E.? DEFINITELY. I have the Varese along with the Montenegro "Man from U.N.C.L.E." which I found disappointing after I bought it as it definitely doesn't sound like the original music but it has since acquired its own place and now I really like it. Sometimes even more than the original score.

I too love the Man from UNCLE albums, especially the first volume with the red cover. I am all for different interpretations of film and TV music, as long as they are well conceived and well executed.

It's a fun album, but the vocalise tends to tire me out. Randazzo captures the groove, but we don't need the ladyperson!
I got this years after falling in love with Disc 2 of FSM's U.N.C.L.E. volume 3 - my single favorite disc out of the whole 7 CD set of releases. (Which I would never have guessed.) For me the suites from Girl are the ideal presentation.
On the other hand I adore the Montenegro albums for Man 1 & 2. I didn't know them until I found the Razor & Tie and import RCA 2-album compilations in the 90's. But man, I still dig them almost as much as FSM's original soundtrack releases.

Then you may enjoy this version, released at the time of the series and retaining Goldsmith's 5/4 time signature:

The one on the C.D. reissue with the Montenegro rerecordings is slightly different from the one on the original L.P..
