As a Bernstein lover, let me say that no words can achieve what you are asking. This is not an intellectual pursuit. You either like it or you don't. I might as well try to convince you of all the good reasons to like the color orange. If it doesn't work for you, no more can be said.

Very sage advise SchiffyM. I've always liked his music, perhaps less so his "Magnificent 7" which is always used to highlight his career. That same film was shown on BBC2 yesterday afternoon in a glorious print which was probably every bit as pristine as when it premiered in 1960. The score has grown on me a lot, but I kept thinking to myself, for a film that looked so good... ALL those actors are dead now, with Robert Vaughan and Horst Buckholtz being the last ones to go. I think his scores that I am most partial to are Bridge at Remagen and The Great Escape. He was a very unassuming composer who made London a second home for his latter years and I often saw him at the NFT where I finally got his autograph. On that occasion he was there to see The Comancheros in 4-track Mag and he was genuinely relaxed about being unrecognised, yet pleasantly surprised that there was at least someone who did.

Personally I've always liked the colour orange, being as I am a British LibDem. I've also always been quite fond of Paul Verhoefen's Soldaat van Oranje with a rather pleasing score by Rogier van Otterloo.

I've refrained from saying this, but his avatar is close enough that I will: where is WILLIAMDMCCRUM?

Phelps took down McCrum in an epic fashion, and McCrum has been afraid to show his face ever since.

I forget which thread.

Oh, that I did not see. Around September/October of last year, my old computer was taken out by a targeted virus attack - I suspect the BIOS was flashed remotely to permanently disable the machine. I spent at least a month mulling over security options on the new hardware/software platform, and an even longer period totally offline. Might have been then? Haven't seen Phelps for a while either, come to think of it. I hate to see the same poles of a strong magnet push themselves apart to infinity.
