Featuring themes from amarcord (rota), la doce vita (rota), Anonymous venetian (cipriani), the leppard (rota), Scent of a woman (trovaioli), City of women (bacalov), mondo cane (ortolani/oliviero), Juliet of the spirits (rota), 8 1/2 (rota), il postino. (Bacalov). They also did themes from OuatitW and incontro and Cinema paradiso - but were the rather disappointing song versions. Ennio under represented - or at least had his talent muted by the song versions - and a little too many Rota themes. And sang duet with soprano Renee Fleming for Cinema paradiso. And il postino. Sky arts, uk t.v I was a bit underwhelmed by the programme (as you know, Bill, and thanks for the heads up over the weekend). Morricone's music lends itself so perfectly to songs that the music may be in danger of being forced into the back seat. "Nella Fantasie" for instance must be one of the most covered songs in recent history, and it is a beautiful song, but it's still just secondary in my opinion to the score of The Mission.
