I played to its demise the cassette of the Disc One programme. Though we've got newly mastered albums and expansions now, I'd still love to hear how much thought went into that "Thunderball Suite" on Disc Two.

Is everything on this Thunderball suite also on the expanded CD, or is there any extra music on the suite? It's all there on the expanded CD. In fact parts of the 30th Anniversary suite were used by Lukas Kendall in assembling the expanded CD, because the analogue master tape from which the suite was drawn had already deteriorated. And yes, the Dr. No version of the Bond theme is rough. It was recorded in mono in 1962. I suspect that the original master has not survived (it was used in many of the first Bond films), and survives only in second or third generation form, but I'm guessing here.

Off topic a bit, but i very much enjoyed the documentary Everything or Nothing (EON) - history of the bond films, shown the other day on uk t.v, covering fleming, jimmy bond on t.v, broccoli, saltzman, the hiring of the different Bonds, the mcClory court stuff, relationship betwn Connery and saltzman/broccoli, etc - all very fascinating.
