Check out my new, extensive interview with composer SIMON FRANGLEN, a longtime rider with James Horner who now resurrects his friend with blazing, new vengeance in their co-score for THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, a truly spectacular last round-up for the musician that also blazes a new trail for his compatriot. Read the tale at:
In another interview with CBC, Franglen refers to "The Danger Motif" by name...Franglen and Horner were just as in on this stuff as the fans were, only the fans and detractors seemed to believe that they were onto something the rest of us - Horner included - were not. Horner always knew exactly what he was doing - connecting works with similar motives and ideas, quotations of others, and yes - the Danger Motif. He was as in on it as we were, only arrogance and negativity got in the way most of the time with the tired back and forth internet arguments.
Cool, I didn't know that he used to work with Trevor Horn and go to the Hacienda nightclub in Manchester.
I missed some info on his early score for the 1993 film Born To Run, directed by none other that Albert Magnoli (Purple Rain, American Anthem, Tango & Cash).
His work with David Foster is quite legendary.
Will be exciting to watch his career the coming years.
