WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31 DOCTOR STRANGE---sneak peak trailer released. Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZfv3XJlPdg THE GREASY STRANGLER---trailer released for the comedy horror movie. Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPl1vcb4hao LAST FLAG FLYING---movie underway based on the novel which is a sequel to the 1973 movie THE LAST DETAIL which starred Jack Nicholson, Otis Young and Randy Quaid. The sequel stars Bryan Cranston, Laurence Fishburne and Steve Carell. The plot has the two petty officers reuniting with their ex-prisoner to help him bring his son's body home after he was killed in Iraq. Richard Linklater is the director. STRANGER THINGS---Netflix renewed the series for Season 2 which will premiere in 2017. Matt Duffer said about Season 2, "I know movie sequels get a lot of s—, but the ones we look up to aspire to pivot and do something different. There’s TEMPLE OF DOOM, ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2. I guess a lot of this is James Cameron. But he’s brilliant. And I think one of the reasons his sequels are as successful as they are is he makes them feel very different without losing what we loved about the original. So I think we kinda looked to him and what he does and tried to capture a little bit of the magic of his work." Duffer also said new characters would appear in Season 2 which will have nine episodes instead of Season 1's eight. ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---Ian McDiarmid confirmed he's not returning as Emperor Palpatine, "ROGUE ONE's on its way, when I was in charge of things - I mean the Emperor, not me. I am not featured in [the movie] myself, but I understand that Darth Vader may be making an appearance." Also, Mark Hamill posted he and his beard will return for STAR WARS: EPISODE XI: "Haven’t seen my chin since May ’15, so #FarewellFacialFur & #ByeByeBeard (at least til #EpisodeIX)" DEADWOOD---Kim Dickens (FEAR THE WALKING DEAD) gave an update on David Milch's tv movie sequel to his HBO Western series, “I know he’s writing…I know lots of us have had our lunches with him. I’ve had my lunch with him, personally. We sat at lunch and he read a few scenes to me between Stubbs, Tolliver (Powers Boothe), and Jane (Robin Weigert)… He read all the parts. It was amazing, it was funny, it was sad. It was all that it was.” SHERLOCK---new photo released for Season 4. SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---photo released of Tom Holland in the new Spider-Man costume. HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD---Warner Bros. is negotiating for the movie trilogy rights to the play and wants Daniel Radcliffe to return. A source said Radcliffe isn't interested, “[Radcliffe] has made it clear that his mind is certainly not focused on returning to the role anytime soon – and that could be until he hits 40.” THE CHAMPION---sci fi movie underway inspired by SPARTACUS in which a man is falsely imprisoned for terrorism and joins the prison's gladiator system to seek freedom. Olivier Megaton (TAKEN 2) is the director. JUMANJI---Dwayne Johnson confirmed that Karen Gillan (DOCTOR WHO) will co-star in the sequel. KIN---sci fi movie underway in which an ex-con and his brother are armed with a weapon with mysterious origins as they are pursued by criminals and unworldly warriors.
