I recently bought the Alfred Hitchcock hour DVD sets .. seasons one , two and Three and to my surprise most of the episodes come with Isolated Music and effects tracks , The EFX are quite Minimal to be honest .

Strange thing is it says nothing about this extra feature on the Boxes or inserts at all .

I live in the UK and they are region 2 but upon checking the R1 contains these as well.

You had my heart racing. As far as I know (please, someone, correct me if I'm wrong) the only seasons of the show that are available in Region 1 are the earlier seasons, prior to the re-branding to THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR. Is that not correct? As far as I know, the seasons contained on Varese's three volumes have yet to be released in North America.

You are correct. The Hour episodes have never been released here in the US. I have the region 2 versions.

The 3 seasons were released from Madman Entertainment in Australia (either region 0 or 4).
Recently was released by Fabulous Films in UK (in separate seasons, and cheaper complete series set). That would be either Region 0 or 2. But both are PAL and will play faster with higher pitched audio, including any bonus audio.
Assuming "R1" means region 1 in the first post, what the heck is he talking about? One or the other PAL releases?

Btw, Hitch Presents (30 min. episodes) and Hitch Hour are considered two totally different series, not one series simply renamed. An example of that would be "The Virginian" which changed it's name to "Men Of Shiloh" in the last couple seasons.

Bruce, did the PAL speed-up bother you regarding the UK ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR?

Musically speaking, it's a world of difference between the 30-minute shows, which were usually scored with a library card, and the HOUR programs, with substantial, original scores by Herrmann and other masters, (as all of us who own the CD's know full well). God speed the day when the HOUR videos are available domestically and we can enjoy the music there wasn't room for on the CDs.

Apologies i thought the Hitchcock Hour DVDs had been released in the US

I guess if you have a multi region player you will be ok .

I still cant believe that there is no mention of this in the packaging whatsover

The half hour Hitchcock presents had no original music just library music.

The review below indicates it's the Madman dvds which have the occasional MFX tracks. Do you have that one, or the Fabulous Films UK release? It's possible Fabulous didnt mention them either.

I have digital copies of the Madman dvds with just the regular audio channel - the video was stunning, but I did find the audio speed-up sometimes very annoying. I recall Bob Newhart's voice was unbearable.

I forget the name of the episode, but there's an "Alfred Hichcock Show" with Peter Lorre and Steve McQueen. I've never seen it but really want to. Is it on DVD? I think it's one of the half-hour shows, though.

That's a "famous" one from AHPresents called "Man from the South." It was okay.
In USA, Seasons 1-5 are on dvd, season 6 is made-on-demand dvdr. No season 7 yet. The whole series is on dvd in UK and elsewhere.
