I was interested only because I like the director, I wasn't a real fan if the first 2 Thor films, but this is pretty cool news.

This is an interesting choice. One thing I will say about the Marvel films is they've certainly brought in a broad range of composers (Doyle, Craig Armstrong, Beck, Tyler, Debney) ...all of whom have been forced to ape the "Wall Of Sound" Zimmer approach. I don't know that it's exactly a Zimmer approach, but I do agree, there's very little wiggle room for a composer's personality to shine through. There have been rare occasions, but in general, there's a sound they like. And it's working for them, so I guess they'll stick with it.

Remember when Carter Burwell was supposed to score Thor 2. We all know how that turned out. So I wouldn't be surprised when in a few weeks or so Giacchino is announched as the replacement
