Maybe we could have a regularly updated topic about Netflix offerings we've enjoyed--particularly if in no small part on account of the production's scoring. (For me, entertaining music can greatly enhance even a mediocre picture, a la, say, Cherry 2000 or Supergirl. As all of you reading likewise browse FSM, I reckon you at least somewhat agree.) So . . . anybody have any suggestions? I'll offer a couple titles, to get the ball rolling. The Hunt (2012): Starring Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), this drama is probably my favorite foreign film since The Lives of Others. Though absorbing, the Danish movie, on account of its subject matter, is not exactly pleasant to watch. (I did not find the score especially noteworthy.) Stardust (2007): I was reluctant to sit down for this one but was subsequently glad I did. The movie is a romantic fantasy film that takes place in (quasi-)England and in some ways is reminiscent of The Princess Bride. The surprisingly high-profile cast is delightful, especially Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro in a role against type (even among his latter-day comedy work). The score, by Ilan Eshkeri, should pleasantly grab your attention while you watch; without a memorably dominant main theme, though, it probably won't leave a lasting impression. OK. Your turn to add to the list!
