FRIDAY, AUGUST 19
GAME OF THRONES---casting call for Season 7 reveals nine new characters:
1. General, in the age range 40 - 55. He's a senior military officer, and they're looking for a white actor who uses the British RP accent. The actor is needed for the week of September 6th.
2. Priest, in his 60's. He's a venerable priest with moral authority and gravitas. The show is seeking a white actor, using an RP accent, with characterful face for this part. He's scheduled to shoot one week, from September 22nd.
3. Warrior, in the 35 - 45 age range. The character is a tough-looking bruiser with the attack skills of a pit bull, and the actor needs to be great at fighting. He has a "considerable" amount of dialogue as well. It's described as an "excellent part for a top-end actor." It's not a Dothraki character as the actor for the role is required to be white, and they're asking for a neutral and non-posh English accent. This role is currently scheduled to shoot across October.
4. Gate Guard, in his 20's. The character is described as a "confident, characterful, straight-talking Northern lad with a great face to play across a very excellent series of scenes." They're looking someone with wit, timing, and charisma. He's currently scheduled to film between mid-October and mid-November.
5. City Guard, in his 30's. The show is casting for a city guard who intercepts a suspicious-looking person on his nightly patrol. They require an RP accent for this one. He's set to shoot for a week in mid-October.
6. Merchant, in his 40's. The merchant appears at an inn during a busy evening. They're seeking a character actor, for a non-combatant role. His appearance is more open, including ethnicity/race. That suggests a character appearing somewhere in Essos- or a place we've never been before, since Daenerys is now on the move. This part is scheduled to shoot the first week of November.
7. Lovely Lady. The show is casting for an attractive young courtesan who is sure of her own mind. It's described as a "good speaking part" and casting notes that full nudity is required for the role. Similar to the merchant, the lovely lady's physical appearance is open, indicating this role is for somewhere on Essos, or at a new location. She's scheduled to shoot for one week in early October.
8. Young Lord in his late 20's. He's a tall, handsome young lord, and the show is looking for a white actor who uses the RP accent. He's scheduled to shoot in the week commencing September 20th.
9. Lieutenant, in his 20's. The character is described as an athletic, physically fit, and disciplined warrior. Appearance-wise, they're looking for someone not white, with Middle Eastern descent mentioned. This bears the hallmarks of a Dothraki character description. He's set to shoot several days across three weeks, between mid-September and mid-November.
BLADE RUNNER 2---Jared Leto (SUICIDE SQUAD) will co-star in the sequel with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. Leto's role was not disclosed.
AMERICAN ASSASSIN---Taylor Kitsch (LONE SURVIVOR) will play the villain in this movie based on the Vince Flynn novel. Dylan O'Brien and Michael Keaton also star.
MEG---Rainn Wilson (THE OFFICE) will co-star in the Jason Statham movie based on the novel as “a tech billionaire who funds an underwater observation program” and who unwittingly unleashes the giant Megalodon on its killing spree.
SUPERGIRL---Melissa Benoist released a photo of her with Lynda Carter who plays the President of the United States in Season 2.
NCIS---Cote De Pablo explained why she left the series, "Unfortunately, because of political things and the scripts not being good enough, I chose not to [stay]. I love this character. I worked eight years in crafting this character and loving her, so when I felt or I perceived the character was not being treated with the respect that she deserved, all the money in the world couldn't buy [me]."
She added, "They were going to send her back to Israel and make her an unfortunate, miserable woman. I said well what do I leave all the women who have watched and followed the show? I didn't think it was fair. And so I said, 'Until someone can really write something fantastic for her, I won't come back.'"
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---Zendaya is reportedly playing Mary Jane Watson in the reboot movie.
REPLICAS---synopsis released for the long-gestating Keanu Reeves sci fi movie:
"Reeves plays a scientist who, after losing his family in a horrific car accident, struggles to bring his wife and kids back to life by cloning them. When a ruthless corporation discovers their existence and calls for their destruction, he must protect their lives at all cost."
GODZILLA---Toho Company will release an animated movie in 2017. Co-director Kobun Shizuno said, “We’re aiming to make a big-scale animation entertainment that people who love Godzilla and people who know nothing about him can both enjoy."
SUSPIRIA---Dario Argento commented on the long-gestating remake of his 1977 horror movie, "...what’s really absurd – really unbelievable – is that I have never, ever been asked about it. I never got a call or anything, asking me about casting, locations, whatever. I know nothing about this project except what I read in the papers. I repeat: I have never, ever been asked about it…
Honestly, I do think it would be better if it wasn’t remade …the film has a specific mood. Either you do it exactly the same way -in which case, it’s not a remake, it’s a copy, which is pointless- or, you change things and make another movie. In that case, why call it SUSPIRIA?"
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON---Max Landis, son of John Landis, denied reports that he's developing a remake of his father's werewolf movie.
AMERICAN GODS---Corbin Bernsen (LA LAW) will play Vlucan in the Starz tv series based on the novel.
THE LOST BOYS---CW tv series underway based on the 1987 vampire movie that starred Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric and Corey Haim. The first season is set in 1967 San Francisco and each new season will be set a decade later.
ARROW---Wil Traval (JESSICA JONES) will play Human Target.
THE FLASH---Ashley Rickards (AWKWARD) will play villain The Top in the tv series.
BLOOD---Robert Rodriguez horror movie underway in which a newly-engaged woman seeks her natural birth family deep in the Florida woods and makes a horrifying discovery.
AMY DAMNATION---tv series underway about a young woman who is compulsive people-pleaser who discovers her parents had her exorcised as a child. She seeks the demon who possessed her to recover her true self.
