I can now confirm it is indeed being sold in-store at Best Buy as well as online, and as already noted, it's on sale this week for the astoundingly low price of $7.99. It appears to be part of a block of Universal titles being offered exclusively at BB in a promo right now, all at the same price; I don't remember all the others, but one is October Sky (a delightful movie in its own right). I just picked up It Came From Outer Space along with October Sky, and I'm looking forward to it! Unfortunately it'll have to be in 2d at the moment since we don't yet have 3d capability in our home, but when the time comes we'll be ready.
Good God! The idea of seeing that film is infinately better than actually seeing that film, and I can speak from experience. It's a bad "Outer limits"-episode level waste of time.

Yes you can buy this in store. The transfer is excellent. I cannot enjoy this in 3D (don't have a 3D TV), but the 2D picture and especially the sound is impressive.
Watching the Blu-ray of IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE right now, unfortunately only in 2D. Watching restored transfers like this is always a pleasure. The only thing that bothers me is that many fine vertical black lines (scratches in the emulsion) haven't been digitally removed, but it doesn't make for that much of a distraction. The three-channel stereo is also a lot of fun to listen to.
I wish someone would make a modest science fiction film like this these days, done in the same style and completely devoid of camp and crassness.
Well, at least we have films like this from a bygone era. Next best thing to a time machine.
