We will release a new CD at the beginning of September - we hope you are all excited!

It is a tricky one:
- European movie from the early 00s
- Composer new to Caldera
- Film about a troubled young man trying to overcome his demons
- Including several other cues by the composer from the course of his career
- 80 mins running time

Here is a 5 min suite from the score - enjoy!

Sounds like Kilar to my ears. Almost unquestionably so. I like it a lot!

If Mr Kilar is the composer it could be the score from Life as a fatal Sexually transmitted disease (directed by Krzysztof Zanussi)

I saw LIFE IS A FATAL SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE recently and it's certainly a score that I would welcome on CD. But it's a film about an old man, so it doesn't fit the clue. Another Zanussi film of the period, THE SUPPLEMENT, might fit the bill.

Who said it was Kilar?

It is not, but the country is right.

We do share the love for Wojciech Kilar and hope to release some music of his next year, but not in September. Most scores for the later Zanussi films are very short and some, like THE SUPPLEMENT, don't have an original score but use concert works of Kilar. SUPPLEMENT make use of the piano concerto for example.

Zbigniew Preisner?

To be honest, that's the only somewhat well-known Polish film composer alive that comes to my mind right now (apart from Abel Korzeniowski, of course, but the samples somehow don't sound like him in my ears).

Nicely developed and composed piece in the vein of Delerue classicism.

It starts off reminiscent of Lai's 'Love Story' briefly, then runs a theme that fits Leonard Cohen's 'Stranger', then does proper extension and development.

'Dunno who it is though.

Confirmed, it's The Welts (Pregi) (2004) by Adrian Konarski.
