Late-To-The-Party Entry

Sometimes a film is so engrossing the particulars of a score do not register as they would with a lesser film. Fury Road certainly lived up to its primary predecessor (The Road Warrior), but my jury remained out on the full quality of the score. A proper full-throttle adventure demands melody and brutality, which I worried only Brian May`s effort provided. Having just listened to the disc (I know... am slow) I`m pleased to confirm that the Holkenborg composition delivered the raw goods.

When I got to Immortan`s Citadel, I knew Holkenborg had indeed done the right job. That track is classic Road Warrior menace. This isn`t cliche action droning, its carefully crafted intensity. I actually thought the only weak point was Let Them Up, when the music gets a 'little' weak. Too weak. Too hopeful, maybe. With that exception mentioned, I believe this is/was one of the stronger scores produced recently. I look forward to more Max with this composer. Thank you composer for embracing the spirit of May`s Road Warrior.

TRON Legacy and Mad Max Fury Road curious brothers??...

I fully agree Warlok, one of the best scores of last year. So powerful and intense in places and alsp sounds so good away from the movie. The movie is a great entry into the "Max" canon.

I can't tell you guys how much I LOVE this film, it's my all time favorite film! I also LOVE the score! I can't wait for Miller's next film, he's my all time favorite filmmaker! There are now rumors he will direct DC's NEW GODS which would be incredible! But first I think he wants to do a small film, and hopefully another MAD MAX!

I`m not very topical am I? I should have listened to this some time ago. That said, I guess since some music MUCH older is discussed by our stodgy elder cooters across the Atlantic way, I`m not entirely blacklisted.

I wonder where George Miller will take us from here with Max? Assuming he finds himself inspired enough to do so.

True story, if you listen to this score on a long road trip, you will reduce your time by about 10%. You may get a speeding ticket though. wink

I was never fond of any of the previous Mad Max scores. They never felt like they fit the films and often just sounded cheesy and thin. Holkenberg's score is perfect, however.

I only got this a few months ago, after previously assuming it wasn't going to be very good.

Absolutely loved it.
A real heavy, pounding metallic soundtrack.

It was on continuous play in my car stereo for about two weeks... can't remember the last time I've ever done that with an album.

Let's see how long you last. I'm guessing within the hour you'll be nothing but a bad aftertaste.

I see that they are releasing a black-and-white version of this film, labeled the "Black & Chrome Edition." Anyone know the reason for this?

Miller originally wanted the film to be black-and-white. Of course the studio wouldn't have signed off on that, so he must have decided to go big or go home and made the colors as vibrant as possible.

I will buy this for sure, I have the 2d version, the 3d version and now will buy the Black & chrome version. This is my favorite film, I have never loved a film so much. And the same with Miller, being my favorite filmmaker.

I'm hoping the MADNESS OF MAX documentary in this set is on Blu-ray and not dvd like it's first release.

Very interesting release - I hope they did a special grading to ensure a special black & "chrome" visual effect. And I hope the full score gets finally released in lossless...
