Anyone else see Michael Conlan's fight yesterday? Christ Almighty he was clearly robbed, no wonder he was pissed. He beat that Russian guy good for 3 rounds. Wonder what those judges were up to...!

I've watched this years Olympics pretty much every night. Having a dvr is a godsend in that being able to fast forward through commercials and less interesting events is very helpful. I've always enjoyed both men and women's swimming and diving, and all of the track and field events, particularly the relay events.

I also have felt somewhat privileged too in being able to watch history in the making with Phelps winning his 23rd gold medal and Usain Bolt still being the fastest man alive without barely even trying.

It is a shame though that Lochte and his cronies had to mar what has been a fantastic Olympics for the US in terms of medals and in terms of the history that occurred with the men's and even women's swim team. What incredible mind boggling stupidity. Lochte himself has now put pretty much an irrevocable stain on his own legacy, who himself has had an incredible career and would be near the legendary status himself, if of course Phelps was not around.

But I do enjoy watching both the summer and winter Olympics and make it a point to pretty much watch them every night. Am sad to see it over tomorrow night.

USA dominates the medal count so much, it's pretty much a US championship! Which is why I'm surprised by the relatively low interest here (this being a US-centric board). Great Britain ain't shabby either, on second (although half the medal counts of the Americans).

Measly Norway has three bronze medals, that's it. I doubt there will be any more. Our biggest favourites -- the handball women -- were knocked out by Russia in the semis. A terrible blow to us, the reigning Olympic, World and Euro champions.

It isnt really a surprise that USA dominates - they have a big pool to choose from and are well funded and have good coaches. Britain has done unbelievably well to stay ahead of china and other countries with greater populations.
Their lottery funding and plan over the last 8 years is reaping dividends.
I have barely watched anything live - its all been breakfast catch-up!

Yeah, same here (breakfast catch-up). Which is why I have a rather distant connection to this year's games (compared to previous years). I guess Britain is now reaping the harvest of the London focus.

So you totally forgot about the handball bronze final?

I live in Sao Paulo (which is a 30 min flight from Rio) and went to see a few things, including a Bolt gold and the pole vault final, it was a great experience. A lot of phenomenals, like Phelps and the gymnastics girl. I was, like most from my country, very skeptical about this extremely expensive and not necessary for us at all event , but from the Opening Ceremony on we become increasingly more interested. These last 2 weeks were a lot of fun over here!

I lost interest in the Olympics years ago when professional athletes were allowed to enter the events.

Oh I don't mind, I remember the Olympics in the sixties, & the whole amateur thing was a farce. The Russians were full time athletes with phony job titles, & doped up to the eyeballs (not their choice, in fact a lot of them suffered long term medical damage due to all the steroids they had to take), & what about American athletes on a university scholarship, that's as good as full time. I don't agree with football & tennis & golf being in it, & they really need to sort out a permanent venue that can be used for all the Olympics. I'm not a great one for watching sport, but I've seen & enjoyed some of it.

Winning the football and volleyball gold medals certainly helped buoy the Brazilian spirits. Best games for Brazil ever. Great games for the U.S. as well.

When the games were in London, NBC's primetime coverage in the States did not include one second of live content, yet became the most viewed television event in history.
