Hey my brother and his wife just flew over yesterday to visit our sister and her husband. What timing. If I send them to the gathering, okay if they drop my name and you blokes refrain from throwing tomatoes?

Any other attendees of ‘Fans of Film Music 7’ attending the event on Saturday? It would be great to catch up and compare notes.
All the Best, Gareth

Oh, how I wish I could have taken some time off for this. I've HUGE backlog of vacation time, but can't take it until the spring of 2017. frown No rest for the (very) wicked) smile.

And hello good Sir. One of my buddies is in attendance and he would surely be fortunate to make your acquaintance.

In any case, hope you all have a great time. This event really looks aces!

Oh I wish I had seen this before I travelled so I could have sought your friend out. But hopefully he tracked me down independantly and we had a chat.

If you are interested the event was really, really great. All of the audience seemed to have a blast and the guests were off the chart entertaining. Huge insights in to the work given by all and there was varying perspectives from each guest which was fascinating. Christopher Gunning talked about his film and TV work but also his symphonic work too and the pros (and cons) to each.

Trevor Jones was as always a true gentleman and it was fantastic to hear that he is currently working on scoring two movies (He’s back!).

Debbie Wiseman was a delight and so beautiful. A charming and intelligent lady who knows her stuff!

Mark Thomas was brill giving great insight in to his technique and some great anecdotes on Benidorm.

Daniel Pemberton was very charming and talked a lot about his current work on King Arthur where he sounds like he is stretching the envelope with respect to the sounds and approaches he is using. And all of that following what sounded like a very entertaining night out …

We also saw and heard some great sections from the new Tadlow recording of ‘The Thief of Baghdad’ which sounds brilliant and I will definetly be picking up. I also managed to buy CDs of Mr Gunning’s symphonic work alongside an event poster and great ‘Fans of Music from the Movies’ mug which I love.

Congratulations to all the organisers especially Tim Smith and James Fitzpatrick who put on a great show. Thanks for all your efforts.
Best, Gareth

Great write-up Gareth. Sounds like this event has the potential to go perennial. Also, you can count on me to be there next time to make darn sure there is more than one Canadian present big grin.

My buddy will be filling me in on the details later on this week, but I'd love to hear what other participants have to say. Sounds like it was a brilliant bash.

* Oh, and my friend picked up Twisted Nerve (yellow edition) for me while in London (can't wait to listen to it).

Maybe not! At one point the composers warned us - "what's said on tour, stays on tour..."

But I can tell you it was a brilliant afternoon; all the composers really opened up with their stories - fascinating and entertaining stuff. I'll never forget about how Christopher Gunning avoids scoring bad TV and Mark Thomas being asked to do music like the chariot race from Ben Hur. A lot of laughs , a very relaxed atmosphere with fans mingling and chatting with the composers, and a chance to meet several FSM members too. Trevor Jones in particular, looked a bit overwhelmed with the attention he was getting.

Flawlessly organised and a great location; the raffle prizes were very generous too, particularly the big bags of CDs, pity I didn't win any!

It was a great event .... and made easy by having composers I had worked with and knew so well ... and you can always count on Chris Gunning to say something controversial!!!!

and I would suggest a thank you to peter Hackman who has been doing this for sevveral years in California. I don't think he had events in Indiana when he lived there. I think he flew out for them but I could be wrong. dmds event is pretty much the same event that you took from. congrats for his hrd work so you could use what hes done for the new one in uk. looks like everyone had a jolly time which is good. would be neat to meet the guy who scored the U.N.C.L.E movie.

I attended the gathering on Saturday which was a resounding success as a result of what was clearly a lot of hard work.
It was great to meet some old friends and new, and also to put some faces to both Facebook friends and FSM board members.
Rather nice nice as well to get speak to all of the guests at the end of the afternoon, all of whom were more than happy to chat to us fanboys and girls.
Assuming there's a follow-up next year, which I'm sure there will be, I'll be there!

Massive thanks and well done to Tim Smith and James Fitzpatrick.
