Bill Conti really brought his style to this score and it worked well. Why ddin't John Barry end up doing this film? Was he tied up with other works and recommended Conti?

Re: Barry, I think he was a tax exile at the time, and couldn't work for English employers without getting clobbered by the HM Revenue office.
I think Submarine may be my favorite out of three. Around the 1:40 mark always gets me everytime. It just explodes so beautifully. You could use that cue and place it during a shocking discovery or plot twist in any Bond film and it would work.
Man I love this score from start to finish. Runaway gets me everytime. Currently forgetting the name but I also really dig the cue when Bond is evading the henchmen on the ski jump. Groovy asymmetric rhythms.
