My favorite part was that one scene.

That was from their "Head'in on to Eden" Tour where they played across the country at all the towns named Eden (of which there are several).

LOL, I thought you were jokingly referring to them rocking on stage!

But yeah, at the end of the day, it's often the bonding or personal revelations that are the best moments from the films.

Watching this again makes me think that this much unloved entry into the Trek series is seriously underrated.

Now, to appreciate this movie you need to understand some of the background politics that occured during the shoot. Principally the hugely rushed schedule demanded by Paramount (

It wasn't that rushed. Star Trek IV came out in 1986. Trek V followed three years later. They were delayed while Nimoy was busy elsewhere, among other reasons. They had an extra year to develop this one. One they got started, yeah, they had a schedule, but they had plenty of time to work this story over and prepare effects and so on.

I do agree, this is a fun entry. I don't dislike any Trek movie, honestly.

"What does God need with a starship?"

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that grammar reflects the influence Yiddish-speaking immigrants had on English. Picture an old man with an accent saying "You kids, always making with the jokes!" That colorful use of "with" came from such immigrants. Shatner and Nimoy did, too.
