FRIDAY, JULY 1

THE DAM BUSTERS---Steven Spielberg said Peter Jackson is working on a "secret" movie for him, “Peter was so busy with THE HOBBIT that it took him away from TINTIN and he’s doing another film for my company now. It’s a secret, nobody knows about it..." Entertainment experts speculated the secret movie is Jackson's long-gestating remake of the 1955 British World War II movie THE DAM BUSTERS in which a top secret RAF squadron bombed vital dams in Germany's Ruhr Valley.
Other speculation is that Jackson will make a movie based on the book AS NATURE MADE HIM: THE BOY WHO WAS RAISED AS A GIRL in which a Canadian boy was raised as a girl after a botched circumcision.

THE DARK TOWER---photo released of Matthew McConaughey playing villain The Man in Black in the movie based on the Stephen King novels.

AMERICAN GODS---photo released of Ian McShane playing Mr. Wednesday in the Starz series based on the fantasy novel.

DOCTOR WHO---showrunner Steven Moffat said Season 7 was the worst, "The workload was just insane. I wasn't coping as well. No-one else's fault, all mine. The 50th was looming, and I didn't know if we could make it work. It was a tough, tough time. My darkest hour on Who was that. Matt [Smith], who was a friend and ally, was leaving -- I couldn't get him to stay. It felt like everything was blowing up around me. I was staggering into the 50th [anniversary special], with no Doctors contracted to appear in it, battered with endless hate mail about how I hadn't got William Hartnell back... and Sherlock series three at the same time."

PACIFIC RIM 2---Scott Eastwood, son of Clint Eastwood, is in talks to co-star with John Boyega (STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS) in the sequel.

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM---director David Yates said two sequels are underway with JK Rowling writing the script, "We've done the first one, she's written the second one, she's got ideas for the third one. No one quite has ownership of them quite yet, in terms of having a relationship with the material, other than the relationship they'll have with the movie when it comes out."

THE FLASH---Tom Felton (HARRY POTTER) has joined the cast as CSI investigator Julian Dorn.

ANNABELLE---Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto have joined the cast of the horror sequel.

CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG---Paramount Pictures live action/CGI movie underway based on the children's books. Justin Malen (BAYWATCH movie) will write the script.

ATTICA---untitled movie underway based on the legal battle that followed the infamous 1971 prison riot at the Attica Correctional Facility.

The Dark Tower baddie looks like a Al Pacino/Chris Walken hybrid.

It was already remade in 1977. wink

Cute.

I liked how Lucas even put in the lines, "How many guns do you think?" / "Say about twenty guns. Some on the surface, some on the tower..." verbatim.

big grin I like the comment under the video:

And we've come full circle with Star Wars ripping off itself.

Ha, missed the comments as I just watched the video embedded on this page.

BTW Lucas also used another War film as inspiration. I don't remember which one, but in the film WW2 planes dive bomb down a canyon, in an attempt to blow up the enemy base or cannon at the face of the wall. Very much like the X-Wings channeling down the Death Star trench.

That might be 633 Squadron.

Can't wait to see what Guy Gibson's dog is called,in Jackson's Dam Busters remake.

They'll make a special edition for the US and its satellites where it's called "N-word" also in that version one plane will be flown by a black crew, one by an all female crew, one with transgenders and the Germans will all be old white men, even the women and children in the German village.

I'm not sure. Studiocanal released the Blu-ray back in 2010. Patrick McGoohan has a brief scene in the film.

I just did some research. Apparently the dogs name was also the secret word for confirming the successful breach of the dam. This is all very fascinating. The "N" world was said eight times in the original cut of the film.

And answering my question:

"When the movie was shown on British television in recent years, the dog’s name was erased altogether. And when shown in the United States, the dog’s name was overdubbed with the word “Trigger.

Don't know which feeling has the front seat in my head on this one, anger, frustration, fear or sadness.
If facts are corrupted to pander to the weaknesses of pompous fools, it's the end of truth.

The irony is that when the militant speech facistas get their way, in several generations people will not know anymore what really happened, and wars and crimes never happened, or won't believe it was that bad. After all they will have been presented a version of what really was, sanitized (read censored) by the over-sensitivities of a small bunch of militant self righteous loudmouthed intimidators today. Thank you US.

What history is being rewritten? The name of a dog? Movies based on historical events change names, details, and facts all the time. It's not a big deal.

The last couple of times the BBC have shown the film, the dog's name has been left in.

I reflected upon your words while I was burning offensive books by Mark Twain, Jean Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway, Franz Kafka, and James Joyce.

BTW, the vile "N-Word" is unlikely to ever go away especially since there are some African-Americans who "lovingly" refer to themselves using that very term. Delightful.roll eyes

Imagine if women lovingly refer to each other with the "C" word? Or how about the "B" word. "She's my B*tch". It's such a quagmire!
