Trying to remember what the name of the 3-note percussion "clunk" instrument is at 0:08 (minus the drums). Goldsmith used it too in the original, with the echoplex, I think. Can anyone tell me?

Thanks!

It is indeed Angklungs--the ones used in Elfman's score are the same Emil Richards angklungs you will hear in Goldsmith's PLANET OF THE APES, ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES, THE SAND PEBBLES, etc. Very small angklungs, called piccolo angklungs, are the featured percussion instrument in the Klingon Theme in his STAR TREK scores.

Here's an info page I used as a reference to describe them in my book on Goldsmith's score, SIMIANS & SERIALISM.
