WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---photo leaked from the Atlanta film set shows Tom Holland in the new Spider-Man costume.

SULLY---photo released of Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart starring in the Clint Eastwood movie about Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot who safely ditched his airliner into the Hudson River with 155 people on board, and the subsequent investigation that threatened to end his career. Premiere is September 9.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS---James Cameron commented on JJ Abrams and THE FORCE AWAKENS, "George Lucas is a friend of mine and George and I had a good conversation about it. I don’t want to say too much about the film as I have a lot of respect for J.J. Abrams. I want to see where they’re taking it next, see what they’re doing with it. But I gotta say I think that George’s six films, had more innovative visual imagination. And this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before, and characters you had seen before. It took a few baby steps forward with new characters. But for me the jury is out, I want to see where they go with it."

JUSTICE LEAGUE---concept art released for the sequel.

BETTER CALL SAUL---Bryan Cranston said he would be glad to return for the spinoff series, “I owe Vince Gilligan so much. He was my champion to get [the Walter White] role. I was the guy coming off Malcolm in the Middle. If they were to call me and say, ‘We have this idea, we’d like … ,’ I would say, ‘Yes, you don’t have to finish the pitch. I’m there, what do you want me to do?’"

BLADE RUNNER 2---Barkhad Abdi (CAPTAIN PHILLIPS) has joined the sequel cast of Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright.

GAME OF THRONES---the directors for Season 7 are Alan Taylor, Jeremy Podeswa, Mark Mylod and Matt Shakman. All have directed GAME OF THRONES episodes before except Shakman.

KING---Daniel Craig is in talks to co-star with Halle Berry in this movie set in Los Angeles during the 1992 Rodney King verdict riot. Craig will play a man who helps his black girlfriend find her children during the riot. Deniz Gamze Erguven (MUSTANG) is the director.

HARRY POTTER---Daniel Radcliffe said he might return for future movies in the franchise, "It would depend on the script. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, 'No,' for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future."

GOTHAM---Maggie Geha (ALL MY CHILDREN) will play 19 year-old Poison Ivy. Clare Foley had played the 14 year-old Poison Ivy in earlier episodes.

Spidey's suit looks like another Halloween Store purchase. It will be sweetened "in post," of course.

Justice League is going to be awesome.

I have to think that Cameron knows damn well the place "where they go with it," will be a very unoriginal place. The new SW movies are being made in full audience pandering mode. What is there for the jury to be out about? "The verdict was preordained."

Spider-Man appears to be getting friendly with his spider-crotch in that photo. Or maybe he's preventing web slinging.

The suit did look much better on film in Captain America/Avengers 2.5. Regarding who's in the suit? A body double I'm sure!

Some early location shots of Episode VIII have some extremely non-SW-looking stuff going on, and Rian Johnson isn't as much of a crowd-pleaser as Abrams. I'm betting that this one will be slightly more out of the comfort zone.

Everything is a copy of what came before. Force Awakens, Jurassic World, ID4 2, Avengers 1&2. Innovation is dead in Hollywood.

Or as the suits would say, "it's what the franchise deserves...but we like making money."

Civil War Spidey was 100% CGI with Tom Holland's voice, so I hear.

Oh wow, I should have realized that, but I didn't.

Glad to see Abdi getting cast in this. He was great in CAPTAIN PHILLIPS and in the underseen EYE IN THE SKY.

Some of the other location shots (not posted here) do show him unmasked, though, and it actually is Tom Holland.

I'm sure the great majority of the action with a fully-costumed Spidey in the final movie will be visually realized principally with all-CGI figures and secondarily with stunt doubles, but Holland is indeed getting at least a little suit time.
