TUESDAY, JUNE 28 JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK---trailer released for the sequel starring Tom Cruise and Cobie Smulders. Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRwrdbcAh2s THE WALKING DEAD---two new characters not from the comic book will be introduced in Season 7. Naomi is "a grandmotherly type who, having lost so many loved ones, is now willing to do whatever it takes not to have to bury any more," and might help "to counsel Carol about the necessities of the post-apocalyptic world..." The second new character, Jennie, is "a sunny-side-up kinda teenager" who is "kind, with a world-weary toughness." and may be a love interest for Carl .It was announced earlier that Season 7 will also introduce comic book character Ezekiel who rules a community called the Kingdom with his pet tiger Shiva. GAME OF THRONES---the Season 6 finale drew a record 8.9 million viewers which broke Season 5 finale's 8.1 million record. Also, co-showrunner DB Weiss commented on next season, “That’s what so much of next season is going to be about; finding out what Cersei's mind-set is. Who is she? While Cersei has certainly done a lot of horrible things in her life and she could be a very cruel person, the one thing that was redemptive about her was, she genuinely loved her children. Now they're all gone, and I think that is very interesting for us. Who is she without her children? The answer is something you'll find out next season." Also, co-showrunner David Benioff confirmed the final two seasons will be shorter, "It's two more seasons we're talking about. From pretty close to the beginning, we talked about doing this in 70-75 hours, and that's what we'll end up with. Call it 73 for now." Also, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau offered a tongue-in-cheek idea for a sitcom spinoff series after GAME OF THRONES ends, “The Heartslayer”! Yeah, why not. But it has to be a sitcom, though, and it has to have a laugh track. Then I would do it in a heartbeat. I thought we’d have a season where we just did the whole thing in a cabaret. Varys would be the owner of the club, because I know Conleth Hill would be amazing at that. And we’d all come in and do little things. Last year we did a Coldplay musical. I thought that was the finest moment we had.” STAR TREK---CBS announced the official name for the alternate Trek timeline that began with the JJ Abrams 2009 STAR TREK movie is the Kelvin Timeline. The Abrams movie is set in an alternate universe that does not include the timeline universe established with the original 1966 STAR TREK tv series and its spinoffs such as STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN. The Kelvin Timeline refers to the starship USS Kelvin that was destroyed in the beginning of the Abrams movie. CBS representative Holly Amos posted, "We needed an in-universe term since we needed some way to refer to it in the encyclopedia." Amos added that the Kelvin Timeline was named by Trek veterans Michael and Denise Okuda. The new CBS All Access Trek tv series is set in the original timeline. STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII---Mark Hamill denied rumors he will be killed off in EPISODE VIII after he said earlier that he would be "out of work" after EPISODE VIII finished filming, “I meant ‘out of work’ because #Ep8 is wrapping soon, OK?” #DontOverThinkEVERYTHING #ParsingHamill #WaitForVIII,” DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS---Ansel Elgort (DIVERGENCE) is in talks to star in the Warner Bros. reboot movie. BARBARELLA---director Nicolas Winding Refn (DRIVE) said his proposed tv series remake of the 1968 Jane Fonda cult classic movie is dead, "Well, I don't own BARBARELLA, the estate does...there are other television things that caught my attention [because] I actually enjoy designing it from the beginning...BARBARELLA it was like LOGAN'S RUN': certain things are better left untouched. You don't need to remake everything." ROADSIDE PICNIC---Matthew Goode (WATCHMEN) stars in this WGN America tv series based on the Russian novel about recovering alien technology. 24: LEGACY---producer Howard Gordon said he plans to have Kiefer Sutherland return in future episodes of the spinoff series. SIEGFRIED AND ROY---biomovie underway based on the Las Vegas magician duo. HAP AND LEONARD---SundanceTV renewed the series for Season 2.
