I'm not talking about the companies that release soundtracks but the physical label that appeared on vinyl records. Are you a fan of the old RCA Victor label with Nipper and the gramophone? Do you prefer early black label MGM or the later blue and white version? Black United Artists of the original Bond films in the 1960s or the orange and yellow sunburst logo of the Spy Who Loved Me era?

This thread was prompted by the recent Record Store Day re-release of the original Dark Shadows TV soundtrack. I thought it was really cool that Varese reproduced the original Philips label and modified the logo to include their own trademark.

Will always love the Capitol rainbow label.

Also, there is nothing cooler than seeing a Verve, Blue Note, or impulse! label spinning on the turntable while drinking a glass of wine.

You may want to change the title to "Favorite Record Label Design."

Like OnyaBirri, I like the Capitol rainbow label. (My fondness for it, admittedly, comes partly from my also being a Beatles fanatic, and most of their original American albums initially came out with that label.)

What? You don't love the Roulette sticker spinning around on a turntable as if it's an actual roulette wheel in a gambling casino?

Here's another Roulette design:

Sometimes record companies with somewhat plain designs could at times concoct semi-psychedelic images:

I only have had one Warwick LP in my collecting, but searching online I located this version which I think can be quite mesmerizing:

I've always preferred the late 1950s design for 20th Fox records, with the clouds-in-the-sky background.

And with non-U.S. records, I like the handcrafted/inky blot imagery on the French Barclay labels:

Simple, but nice:

You missed my favorite Roulette design.

If OnyaBirri has a fave Roulette design, then why didn't he mention such in his post instead of chattin'-on about that Blue Note stuff. razz

My favorite among the Roulette label designs does not necessarily make my global list of favorite label designs.
