There is an A capella group out of central Florida called Voctave. Some of their members are, or have been, part of the Voices of Liberty at the American Adventure at Epcot in Disney World and over the last year they have released 5 songs which are available on iTunes or Apple Music and their videos on YouTube. They have one called Disney Love Medley featuring Kristin Maldonado (from Pentonix) and Jeremy Michael Lewis. Another song Someone Like You from the musical Jekyll & Hyde featuring Jody McBrayer. But they just release a song called The Great Movie Medley and it's a mashup of all of John Williams most famous themes. So if you love a Capella music and John Williams, check out their YouTube video here:
Wow, I enjoyed that. I've noticed that when I hear arrangements of John Williams that are voiced just with piano or just, in this case, with human voices - it brings out the subtlely difficult but gorgeous harmonics in a way that hearing the voicings in different instruments with an orchestra sometimes fails to emphasize. All the more striking because the melodies chosen here are otherwise mostly very simple. The depth and sophistication of the arrangements is what makes all the difference.
