I just watched a nice blu ray if this kidnappers v snake film. It looks nice and has a great cast, the film itself I found just okay. The music I really rather liked. It opens with an uplifting theme that seems like it should be over a montage of Olympic success. I'm surprised I'd not heard it just in passing. There are also nice suspense cues, which Kamen always seemed to excel at. I can't imagine it being a long CD if there ever is or was a release but I'd get it. When a villain is attacked later in the film the music is rather good and worked for me in the same way Goldsmith's music did in the Dallas death scene in Alien. Anyone heard it or like it?
Oh yeah, I`ve been a fan of this score since I first saw that movie back in the eighties. Now when Kamen`s Last Boy Scout is finally released this is the last unreleased Kamen score I really want on CD.
The film itself is amusingly awful: every conversation between the villains and the police begins "Can you hear me?" "Yes, I can hear you...!"
I liked the music too, but from memory there isn't a great deal of it. Buy Kamen's Guitar Concerto, where Kamen reuses the theme.
The film seemed to be written or staged by someone who had never been to a police siege. Ambulances removing bodies about 10 feet away from the front door where they were shot, with the gunman holding a gun and watching them from the window as they do it. I shook my head.
This movie is totally bonkers. I absolutely love it. Really cool score from Kamen. The main titles kinda have a Robin Hood vibe and the suspense stuff evokes his scores to Die Hard and The Dead Zone.
