Yeah, the alternates and then the source music would go for sure, not the songs!

La La,

Any chance of Apollo 13 remastered/expanded any time soon? I'm sure that would be in your top 20 smile.

Nah. B.A.D. is hardly an essential song to the film's narrative. It just plays quietly at the parking garage, and its easily found for sale on all digital platforms. I'd guess it'd be the first thing to consider not including if you needed space.

This is the only chance Ira Newborn's score ever has of being released, they never would have dropped the alternates if they needed room! Maybe only the Polka Medley, out of Newborn's material.

This release in particular is so important for people outside of our realm that there's no way they'd cut one of the songs in place of some samey alternates and source music! Especially the source music!

I just got my copy of this long-awaited CD and was looking around for some discussion on it.

I noticed there were some questions regarding any versions or mixes of "Twist and Shout" used in the movie.
Several years back, I provided some extractions from the "A Hard Day's Night" DVD to a compiler who was trying to gather all iterations of Beatles songs. At that time, the discussion came up about "Twist and Shout" as used in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," so I extracted the 5.0 mix from that DVD as well.

First, it should be noted that "Twist and Shout" was originally recorded direct to 2-track in 1963, with the instruments on one track and the vocals on the second track.

In the 5.0 mix for "Ferris Bueller" present on the DVD (admittedly, I don't know if it's finished stems for the original Dolby surround mix or a scratch remix), the 2 tracks of the standard stereo version of "Twist and Shout" were utilized pretty much as released.

The left and right channels of the film have the Beatles' instrumental channel essentially duplicated (dual mono), while the vocal channel is placed in the center channel. The stereo release of the song has some instrumental bleed in the vocal side of the track, and this appears to have been left as-is and not augmented with more of the instrumental track. As the full crowd starts to harmonize on the rising "aaahhs" as the end of the song, the Beatles vocals are faded out completely.

The surround tracks include ambience created using the song, but not isolating any distinct elements from the Beatles track. The ambience has minimal vocal, so it appears to be created using primarily the instrumental channel of the Beatles recording.

When I heard the marching band overlay on this new CD I was completely surprised by the saxophone. Listening again to the extraction from the DVD, I don't hear this saxophone anywhere in the final film mix, or any of the instrumentation other than the horns, really. It's interesting that they recorded a multiple instruments of a marching band playing the full track, but used it sparingly in the final mix.

So I've listen to the entire soundtrack and was really impressed with mostly everything included. I was also interested into listening to the Twist And Shout overlay and theirs alot that is not in the film mix. I also tried to sync it to the song where the first part before the bridge syncs perfectly but after the bridge every note seems to be a couple of seconds before it's suppose to overlay.

I ran into the same thing and finally fixed it by inserting a .3 second pause in middle of the instrumental track where they start to diverge.

Awesome CD
Although,
Not having TAKING THE DAY OFF & MARCH OF THE SWIVEL HEADS on this album a slight disappointment, but they're easily snagged from YouTube. TWIST & SHOUT is another issue.

My real concern is the slight index error that clips some of the very beginning of certain tracks. It's very close, so you really wouldn't notice during play (or perhaps shuffle) only if you digitally rip the CD into ".aif" files and see the full sound wave. No complaints otherwise!
