This is a VERY quiet and understated score from JNH. There are some nice, soft, wistful Americana moments (one of which recalls Wyatt Earp), but in the main, it's low-key orchestral mood setting and generally follows the sound of the darker, quieter moments in his Hunger Games scores. There are about 5 or 6 cues that I would return to, namely the prideful, swelling Americana moments that appear now and then.
Well, in this day and age, TV isn't what it used to. In some cases, it even surpasses film in terms of production values and general quality. I don't know anything about this recent TV project, but I assume JNH did it for a reason.
It can also be a ncie change of pace, however it might be that if one spent some time clicking on all the producers on the TV film at IMDb, there probably one or more people who've been on films that J.N.H. scored and it might turn out it was nothing more than suggesting hsi name and having a budget for the score.
