Anyone watch it on Sunday night?

I was a huge Top Gear fan when Clarkson, Hammond & May did it - they made it all seem effortless and spontanious (even though it was heavily scripted) and overall just came across as 3 mates who were mad about cars.

New presenters Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc were the total opposite. In the studio they were obviously reading from an autocue and in the filmed segments, Evans was just awful. LeBlanc did at least show some charisma in the filmed sequences but you get the impression that he really didn't want to be there.

Whereas Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow are blokes you could easily spend the evening with over a few beers, Evans and LeBlanc actually make you want them to be the people who get slung out of a pub so you don't need to listen to them any more.

I'll give it another go on Sunday but at the moment I'm seriously underwhelmed. Can't wait for The Grand Tour to start on Amazon though!

Some of the US fans weren't so impressed.

Mike, did you ever attend the taping of the show? You had tickets, didn't you? I'm assuming you did. Unless you were reliving your Elstree adventures? big grin

I did have tickets but a mate of mine who had been to the filming before warned me that you had to stand around for hours on end with nowhere to sit - and unfortunately my spine issues mean that after I have been standing for an hour I am in agony and after 2 hours I can barely walk, so sadly I did opted out. Ironically, I'm pretty sure that the one I had tickets for was the very last episode filmed with the old guard so I do regret not going, although doubtless I would have regretted it more if I went as I'd have suffered for days afterwards.

Nowadays I can get the same amount of pain and discomfort from watching Evans and LeBlanc present the show, all from my front room.

Mate, sorry to read about your issues. I share your pain. I too have some issues myself. Some days are better than others.

Switched off after 10 minutes. That's pretty good. Never watched Chris Evans for that long previously. He must be improving.

I’ve never watched Top Gear regularly, so I can’t say much about it, but anything with Chris Evans is a turn off for me. Can’t stand him on the radio either, constantly shouting and yelping, and banging on about how great his life is. And yet his is the most popular breakfast show in the UK!! He may well be rich, but I find him a bore and egocentric.
