Sounds like Desplat has, once again, knock it out of the park!

I love Desplat but I never thought this movie would inspire an especially good score. Pleasantly surprised by the samples. Ordered!

Desplat is a hit and miss for me, but the samples sound really promising. His stuff for childrens/animation films tend to get my attention. Mr. Magorium's, Rise of the Guardians are both great scores.

Don't forget, Desplat also wrote an extremely fun score to Florence Foster Jenkens!

As soon as I heard the score I knew that Desplat was gonna channel it on The Secret Life Of Pets, but he does more than that. You can hear the influences from the Wes Anderson films (quirky bells and celesta, chanting male choirs), and Desplat's previous animated scores (saxophones and woodwind solos), plus the taiko writing from Godzilla, some traditional Desplat-esque action music, John Powell inspired use of electronics and latin influenced drums. Haven't hear a score as eclectic and fun from Desplat since Rise Of The Guardians. If the studio won't interfer, Rogue One might be as good as this one.

The samples are a gas! Each sample feature a jazzy, snappy flavor, very reminiscent of Henry Mancini. I have been looking forward to seeing this film since its first sneak preview last summer and now this score even adds more anticipation.

This sounds terrific. I love it when Desplat can step out of his Merchant Ivory comfort zone.

What a great score this is. Much better than the generic noodling Desplat usually dishes up.

If you think Desplat is generic I can only assume that you've not listened to much of his output.

Saw the film yesterday. Quite a few laughs, and Desplat's score is omnipresent. At a quick 90 minutes, the film doesn't overstay its welcome. This is good, because after a measured start, the film is nonstop action (as is a MINIONS short that precedes it). The score is always bright and tuneful, a definite buy for me.
