What would you like to ask soundtrack music labels about their soundtrack album business and creative processes?

My name is Matthew C. Hightshoe. I have recently created a start-up film production company (The Creative Cortex) and am seeking to personally finance and produce a documentary focused on what it takes for a specialty soundtrack music label to produce an album for what is essentially a niche market. This documentary will be made “by fans for fans” while still being accessible to the general public. The goal will be to provide insight into a soundtrack company’s history, process and success from multiple perspectives.

Being a long time fan of film music (and at one time an aspiring film composer myself who turned to concept art and design instead), I understand and respect both the art of music composition and the hard business decisions that can affect any creative endeavor in both negative and positive ways. But, over the years, it has become obvious through forum discussions, critical reviews and personal interactions that the general public, and often even the hardcore fans, do not have a good understanding of what separates desire from reality in the world of film score releasing.

This is your chance to submit many of your long burning questions for us to ask on your behalf and you will be credited if the question makes it to the final cut. We have already established a very extensive list on our end but are looking to see if there any questions the fans may have that we have not thought of. There will be a vetting/filtering process as to weed out inappropriate, irrelevant and duplicate questions.

Note: Fans will be notified in a follow up Thread as to which questions were selected and will be asked. A final cut of the documentary will also play a factor in how many of the selected questions will ultimately be seen in the documentary. However, we will include the unused questions and their accompanying interviews in a supplemental materials section on the DVD so you will get to have your question asked and answered by the corresponding Music Label. More on the DVD at a later date.

In the meantime...

Have at it, so to speak. Ask away. This thread will remain open until June 7th, 2016. I appreciate your participation and I will do my best to answer your questions in a timely manner as I am busy executing the production of the documentary.
