Hi DMD. I've noticed that some Varese titles only appear on the US iTunes store and not on for example Amazon US, HD Tracks, etc.:

The Black Cauldron Utah Symphony
Spies Like Us
The Boy Who Could Fly

Would you possibly be able to confirm if these are exclusive to iTunes US?

At the bottom right on the front page of the iTS you will see a button with the flag of your country/region. You can switch to other regions and look around.

Yes, I'm aware of that, problem is I can only purchase from my country's store, and these titles are US only.

Technically you need a credit card registered in the country the iTunes store is available in.

Exactly. So I'm wondering whether these titles are US iTunes exclusive or if we may still get them globally later.

What if someone in the US sent you a iTunes gift card? Maybe that will work.

You have to create an account in whatever country you're looking to get something from. Then, have someone in that country (or who already has an account there) gift them to you. They pay and you download. Done.

Not that easy. You still need a US credit card to open a US store account. Plus how do I get someone to gift it to me?

Also Joe Versus the Volcano and Eye Of the Needle are not available outside the US, but are not exclusive to US iTunes as they are also on HDTracks.

I'm just trying to understand why these titles aren't available outside the US.

Thanks

It all depends on our licensing if we have INTERNATIONAL. Sometimes labels only get US and Canada. I do not work in this department so I'm not able to go through each and every title to let you know what area of the world we got for digital and/or streaming rights.

I do know some of our titles are US/Canada only.

Perhaps it costs more to licence the music in different countries, similar to the way Youtube licence holders sometimes restrict stuff to specific regions.

It's annoying, I remember when I first got iTunes and had a look to see what was available, and found some stuff unavailable to me in the UK. Not sure if things have improved over the years, but doesn't sound like it as you're now experiencing.

Edit: I see DMD has replied now.

Hi DMD and thanks for replying to all my questions, it is really appreciated! This helps me to plan my purchases, knowing the these titles mentioned in my post will most likely not be available as DL outside North America.
