According to this link copyright shows as 2016 La-La Land Records? How did this happen if FSM released the CD?

It's very unlikely that FSM retained any rights to this music past the CD.

That said, the LLL credit is surprising. Typically, the studio would release this directly to iTunes.

Yes, that's what I thought. Hopefully the start of something good?

An official announcement will be coming shortly in regards to La-La Land Records and Paramount Music making available digital downloads for the entire Paramount Music Library. It seems that our first batch made it online a few days earlier than anticipated.

Interesting news
Hopefully not just iTunes but places that offer lossless as well and not just in the US.

Black Sunday at least is available on the 7Digital download site here in the UK in both 320kbps as well as a 16-bit/44.1kHz FLAC option...

Oops, sorry to spoil the surprise MV, but this really is fantastic news! Will the titles be available worldwide or will they be US exclusive?

Not for the immediate future but we may release some titles that will be digital only. A past example would be Airplane 2. We sold like 400 copies. Not worth a cd run.

Airplane 2 only sold 400 copies?? Have to admit I didn't get one but was on the fence. Now I will get it... Not that my one sale will help but it is such a fun score I feel guilty not having jumped on it before.

This will be... sad. From one point of view - we can get albums immediately (saving on shipping costs). But from another point of view - iTunes could offer only AAC 256 kbps files, not flac (or better) versions. And iTunes is probably the only store, in which I can buy digital music (I specify this is for those, who may start advice me to use another services - I can't use most of them 'cause my location).
And as always with me - LLL probably will put albums which I want in digital only (that's my karma smile )

I just checked my country's iTunes store and Black Sunday is there! So I guess the deal is worldwide (I'm in Africa).

Now to dig through iTunes for other titles with copyright 2016 La-La Land Records...

Well for me it's the best soundtrack related news all year. Our currency has taken a serious hammering since December 2015 and I can no longer afford all the great titles being released by our beloved labels. Having them for DL even if at lossy quality is the only viable option for me financially.

Hopefully this will set a precedent for other studios and labels to follow.

Great news indeed!

Although I seem to have all the titels from the first batch that I could find, I'm excited by this move. Considering shipping and taxes, the price of an album in iTunes is no less than a whopping third from what I would pay if I got a cd shipped to me from the states.

A third!

And that it also probably means that La-La is able to release more obscure scores whose predicted sales wouldn't merit a cd-run is more that just a bonus.

Thanks MV!
