I grew up watching Schallert, but like you, Mike_J, I never fully appreciated his comic side until Joe Dante brought it out. Dante had so much fun with Schallert, Kenneth Tobey and Kevin McCarthy! You shall be missed, Mr. Schallert. R.I.P.

Schallert played a gas station attendant in the 1949 fantasy MIGHTY JOE YOUNG. Ernest B. Schoedsack directed the film. Roy Webb's score was released by Monstrous Movie Music in 2006.

Ulmer film, Schallert played "Dr. Mears," a brilliant but devious scientist assisting "Professor Elliott" (Raymond Bond), who has recently discovered "Planet X." Charles Koff scored the film.
