THURSDAY, MAY 5

HAN SOLO---to celebrate Star Wars Day, Chris Miller, co-director of the young Han Solo movie, posted a photo of Han's blaster with the caption, "Can't wait to get "shooting"!#MayThe4thBeWithYou".

In a related story, Paul Blake, who played Greedo in the original movie, said he agrees with fans and wants the original shootout scene between Han and Greedo to be restored, "He was a bit inept wasn't he? He's a worse shot than a Stormtrooper. I don't think Jabba had him under a pension plan, let's put it that way. It would be lovely to see them go back to the original version, I much preferred it, I must say. And it does give it Greedo a little more glory if he's just blown away."

STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII---set photos show Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple under construction.

Also, Mark Hamill confirmed a leaked alternate ending to THE FORCE AWAKENS is authentic, "One day I read the first 15 minutes of the film absolutely accurately. I can tell you now that in the original opening shot of [episode] seven, the first thing that came into frame was a hand with a lightsaber, a severed hand that enters the atmosphere, and then the hand and bone burns away and goes sticking into the surface of Jakku. And this alien hand comes in — don’t know if it was Maz — but it was an alien hand who takes the light saber way, and then the movie proceeds as you see it."

THE MUMMY---Russell Crowe is in talks to play "a Jekyll-like role" in the Universal Pictures reboot movie that stars Tom Cruise. Tom Hardy and Javier Bardem were also in talks for the role.

PAPILLON---Charlie Hunnam (SONS OF ANARCHY) is in talks to star in the remake of the 1973 prison escape movie that starred Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman.

DEATH WISH---the Bruce Willis remake of the 1974 Charles Bronson vigilante movie has lost its co-directors. Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado left due to "creative differences".

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE---Josh Boone (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) is co-writing a remake of the 1994 movie that starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.
Also, Boone, the director of THE NEW MUTANT X-Men spinoff movie, released comic book art of Wolfsbane, Mirage, Cannonball, Sunshot, Magik and Warlock which led to speculation that they are in the movie.

WAR WOLF---movie underway set in 1356 during a war between England and France, a British warrior is awarded the castle of his foe, a French assassin. He discovers the castle contains the legendary Loup de Guerre (War Wolf), a deadly monster that embarks on a killing spree. Simon West (CON AIR, THE EXPENDABLES 2) is the director.

SETH MacFARLANE---Fox ordered 13 episodes of an untitled sci fi comedy/drama about the Orville, a second-tier spaceship and its second-tier crew, that embarks on a journey to explore outer space. MacFarlane is the star/writer/executive producer.

UNDER THE SILVER LAKE---Andrew Garfield (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) stars in this noir crime thriller set in current Los Angeles. Robert Mitchell (IT FOLLOWS) is the writer/director.

VALLEY OF THE GODS---Josh Hartnett, John Malkovich, Keir Dullea, Charlotte Rampling, Berenice Marlohe and John Rhys-Davies star in this fantasy movie about the world's richest man, a Navajo legend and a journalist who can alter reality.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR---co-director Joe Russo said the two-part movie will get new titles, "The movies are two very different movies. The intention is we will change it, we just haven't come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it."

WOLVERINE 3---Eriq La Salle (ER) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

SUPERGIRL---CBS has not renewed the series yet which led to speculation the series may move to The CW which helped develop it with CBS.

THE SLENDER MAN---movie underway based on the online meme that preys on children.

OPHELIA---Daisy Ridley and Naomi Watts are in negotiations to star in this movie based on the novel which is a reimagining of Shakespeare's HAMLET and focuses on Phelia's romance with the prince and her relationship with his mother.

A remake of PAPILLON with Charlie Hunnam? Hopefully they go back to the book and leave the '73 movie alone.

Whatever happened to that McQueen bio film? I thought Hunnam would be good for McQueen.

So, MacFarlane wants to headline a shitty redo of Red Dwarf? Fuck off, buddy.

"Red Dwarf" was two second-tier officers in a standard core of officers who got stuck together far, far out in space after the Red Dwarf computer lost it's marbles and wandered around for a million years. Then they tried to get back to Earth. Space and comedy are the only things these two really have in common.

But even if it sucks, imagine my joy if he brings along Ron Jones. And I don't think we've yet to hear a science fiction space score from Walter Murphy.

Why does the Jedi Temple look like a bunch of ant hills? At least there's a safety net for the construction workers. Force not strong with construction workers.

Because that's what the filming location looks like... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skellig_Michael#Monastic

It was a rhetorical question, but I see there's a method to their madness.

Why aren't they just making it with CGI? It must be a major setting in the film.

The groan to the news of an unnecessary remake used to happen about twice a year.

Oh, HELL no! NO, NO, NO. Do not touch this film. Bruce Willis is not Charles Bronson. 50-something Bronson would kick a 30-something Willis' ass anyday.

First, The Mechanic, now Death Wish. Just NO.

Besides, The Brave One already grokked Death Wish.
