I missed this Intrada release and came across the original soundtrack. Is it worthy? Most definitely. Not a vast amount of JNH but what’re there are probably the best cues plus you get a smattering of cues from the other composers involved, eg Tom Rothrock, Antonio Pinto, that are not on the Intrada release, plus songs. I definitely disagree with this for a few reasons. First, the album is merely a sampler of some of the source music and damn good I might add to help the score and the films' narrative. However, as a representation of the score itself, there's no way in hell that this release is having way more than than Intrada's JNH score album. If you want only 8 Minutes worth and for a low price, maybe. But Tim P is dead wrong about this assessment. The reason to have it very simple. Most of the music Howard wrote which is over an hour was either not used or trauncated in the final cut of the film with the exception of the final 20 minutes of the film which is all JNH. Michael Mann is notorious for messing with people's scores like what he did with Elliot Goldenthal on both Heat and Public Enemies, Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke on The Insider and Ali and John Murphy on Miami Vice to name a few. The music that should've been on that compilation should've been the last 20 minutes of the film which are definitely some of the best music for one of Michael Mann's films as a finale since Heat probably. This play virtually uncut on the Intrada album like in the film itself. Definitely one reason to really have that album. The other reason, Howard's music is better than what Antonio Pinto wrote which is mostly filler and moody pretty much like Howard's score and an agency promo for it which was 22 minutes of it was released and I'm glad was not included on the Intrada album because it isn't all that memorable in IMHO especially on its own. If you were to find the compilation for a super low price, then it's good to have until you get the Intrada album to really enjoy JNH's truly excellent score and worth whatever price you do get it for. So disregard whatever Tim P says, the Intrada is the one worth having.

Juanki asked if it was ‘worthy’ because he/she missed out on the Intrada. Presumably that means is it worth getting? Yes, it is worth getting for the reasons I stated. Nowhere did I state it’s the one to get over the Intrada. What I take umberage with you is that the original album has the best cues. That is what I completely disagree with more so that it being better than Intrada's. Yes, the three cues on the album are terrific but it's basically like a girl teasing a guy and not giving anything after you've worked him up. So while it is a nice thing to get at a low price as a place holder. Just get the Intrada album.
